SST-90 and SSt-50 battery options

Sorry if its been asked before...

Getting ready to build a mag SST-90, (and a SST-50) I want to direct drive it. I have read that it needs 4 nimh cells (d size) to push it to the 9 amp range. Then i read that 4 cells would kill it if they were new cells hot off the charger. So, will it? LOL.

Just don't wanna poof the led, but I'm not the type to let cells sit after charging and I will be using brand new NiMH Cells, 10000 mah

So 3 or 4 cells?

Andddd, LOL, could someone link me to the brightest SST-90, I seem to get lost with all the binning and best place to get them...

The 2250Lum SST 90 currently is not in stock, but wait a few days.

BUT...what sense has direct drive, when you have so much good drivers....?

I like simplicty and I dont use different levels very often.. I need as many OTF lumens as I can get =-) lol

OK..understood...but it`s not about simple/complicated, it˛s about the safety and reliability,
especially in the maglite housing with very low heat dissipation ability......but this is just me.....:huh:
