Real actual eneloop shelf life? (use in EDC penlight)

I've got a spare eneloop AAA cell. I've got an Arc AAA on my keychain. Would it be reasonable to use the eneloop in the Arc?

I usually only change the Arc's battery every few months -- if that. And I don't want to find it's gone dead when I need it. On the other hand, I imagine the eneloop holds more power than an alkaline cell...

It indeed is more powerful than Alkaline, and it retains 75% of charge in 3 years.
If you only charge it once in few months, you can do refresh&analyze or break-in cycle every time - this way you'll keep your cell closer to "fresh from the factory" state.

Thanks!
I have the Maha C-800 -- how often should I be running the 'condition' cycle on my batteries?
