The only thing I dont like about the TK35 is that it takes 2-18650's, or 4- CR123's to run at 820L-860L. I have an Eagletac G25C2 that runs on 1- 18650 at 770L. Not only that, but the TK35 runs at 820L-860L for only 1.5hours(90 min) on 2-18650's, whereas the ET G25C2(and others) run at their turbo settings of around 720-770L for 75 minutes.

The TK35, with twice the battery power and capacity should by all means have much more brightness than it does, and it should have about double the battery life, which it doesnt, not even close. I would expect a 2- 18650 light to run at least 1200-1400 lumens, not 820-860.

The good thing about it is that its only around $109, which is similar to the 1 -18650 lights. Its also unique.

yeah i would have to agree with that but like you said they are around the same price. Fenix was my first light that got me addicted so i had to stay true to fenix i never really tried any other light. i own a Fenix tk11 ( lost by parents) Fenix TK35 (replacement for TK11 and also a Fenix TK15 out of them all i Love the TK 15, its small and powerful and it fits on your belt:grin2:

I agree with HighlanderNorth, it is a nice light but sort of underwhelming. A great light for walking the dog, nice range of intensities and decent throw when you need it. Easy to carry and hold, but should have more output for its size.

I think a lot of "production" lights are conservative in their output because of the concern about overheating. Lights from custom builders generally are set up to run hotter, the market is smaller and the cost higher - Builders assume users of these lights are more careful than the mass market, and can run higher outputs and temps.

Fenix rated using ANSI standards, so the TK35's 860 lumens must be compared to the G25C2's own ANSI rating of 640 lumens.

640 x 66 (1.1hours) = 42240

860 x 90 = 77400

So the G25C2 does come out a little on top, but remember there will always be variations not accounted for in the simple max output and runtime figures.

Also, it would be simply impossible to get 1200-1400 lumens ANSI from a single XM-L. Fenix decided to go with a single XM-L in a big head for good throw and to take advantage of the head size by having 2 side by side 18650's. I think it's a very good design, though I haven't actually bought one myself.
