How often have you lost your EDC?

I just noticed this morning that my Fenix E11 was missing from my jacket pocket. It was pretty much free floating in there together with my mp3 player (Sansa Clip Zip); no pocket clip or anything, but I did attach the lanyard.
In the summer - unless it's really hot - I carry my jacket with me and abuse it as a purse, so in carrying it around, the light must have fallen out :/
I tried retracing my steps this morning, but nowhere to be soon. Maybe one of my colleagues found it.

Makes me reconsider edc-ing any light in that manner. My EagleTac D25A Ti is arriving this afternoon, so I'll have to figure out if I can store that more securely. It's one thing to lose a discounted fenix E11 with an alkaline in it, but it's another to lose a fancy titanium light

Haven't lost one yet, but I did have half of a 4 button 'Chang special' twist off while on my keychain, but that was a $2 deal that I got for free, anyhow.

I've been lucky so far.. I have my preon 1 on a tec suspension clip, so its fairly deep in my pocket. I HOPE I don't lose it. I'd be pretty heartbroken..

I'm still hoping I'll find this back in my car or something, because I went straight home after work (apart from the supermarket). Gotta look under the seats tonight...

Well, count my losses as minus one, I found it again yesterday :) It had apparently rolled out of my jacket pocket and lodged somewhere out of sight between car seat and the thingy the seat is mounted on. Needed another flashlight to find it ^^

I was about to suggest waiting for dark and look for it by flashlight... that has worked for me so many times. I never carry anything in a jacket with pockets that don't zip.

I never lost an edc, most times I find it between the seat and the shifter box. Last week it was my wallet. I found out as I was going to pay for a new pair of pant .

I have lost both an Eagletac D25C Ti Clicky and a ZebraLight SC31w in just the last three weeks.

First time I have lost any light(s) at all. :(

Beach Honda,

I have an Sc31w, brand new, and would be willing to give it to you. It will not hurt me or my collection to part with one light.

You can PM me with your address and I will send it to you.

Sorry to hear of your missing lights.

With all best wishes,

Ned Redway

A year or so ago, I lost an Muyshont Aeon.

That day, I was a keynote speaker at a function in the Palm Springs area and there was a really good sand storm going outside.

When we left I must have lost it getting in the truck. The wind was so strong, I could hardly open the door.

Got home and no light! I love the Aeon, so I just got my back up Aeon out, and was back in business. I still have a back up Aeon and a Red Ion, just in case.

Often, I wonder if that light is covered in the sand of the Colorado Desert to be found in a thousand years be future explorers or developers still trying to put in a mall - or if it is in some kitchen junk drawer.

It was lost - and that's that. (...And that's that...is Ace Rothstein's final lines in the motion Picture, Casino)

Best,

NR

Today I've lost 5 Haiku's, 3 Mac's customs and a 007 spy. Got any of those spare?

This is what CPF is about. Real decent folk willing to help another out with an act of kindness!
There are some great people out there and you sir are top of today's list!!!

You guys really are the friendliest flashlight community on the internet. Probably the friendliest community on the internet all together..

As far as losing lights, I've done it quite frequently. I wouldn't call them EDC lights but they're daily use. I've left them on the ground, had them roll off the back of my work truck as I drive away, etc. I strive to be the best at my job, which means working fast. Sometimes pace accidentally trumps care with my possessions and that's when flashlights start disappearing. Replacing lost flashlights is what landed me here. It was one that I had almost $100 wrapped up in, and that was probably 2-3 times more than I had ever spent on a light. It really hurt. Now I have a handful of lights that cost more, and I'm terrified of my wicked ways returning. God I hope that never happens. A 4 D Maglite/month is one thing...Even a Mag with a Terralux. a TK70 would be another...

Actually typing this to you guys alleviates some of the sting a bit. When I try to express it to non-flashaholics they just call me dumb for spending so much on a flashlight. We'll see who's making smart remarks when the power goes out.

I posted before in other threads about losing my first EDC in a snow bank and finding it after the snow melted some a few days later.

I ask how many of you have your name and phone number on your lights ? I made up some small decals and put my name and number on my lights. At least I have a chance of getting my light back if a person finds it. So far I've been lucky.

Thus far I've lost one light: my Arc AAA Premium, with natural anodizing and a Nichia DS emitter. Because I lost that light, I discovered CPF while searching for a replacement. My bank account has paid dearly for that moment of forgetfulness.

Lost 1 a year. 3 years ago was my Fenix TK10. 2 years ago was my Surefire 6PD, 1 year ago was a Novatac 120P, this year was my Preon 2 High-CRI. hopefully the problem will slow down......

Since then I've put a label with my first name and cell number in. It's actually worked once! For my Thrunite Ti.
