Off hand, the Xtar Meteor with one RCR123 is at 500 L OTF on high....which is brighter than the eagletac's high of 317 L OTF....so, the eagletac is not even close to the brightest single 123 light.

Jetbeam RRT-01 also rated at 500 lumens. The Niteye EYE10 output has been measured higher too.

In the future, the brightest and longest runtime 123 light will provide 10,000 lumens and run for 2,080 hours on turbo.

:D

There is more to a light's performance than lumens and runtime. For example, how far the beam can reach, the size of the beam width at the ranges of interest, and the light's UI, form factor, etc.

Is there a range you need the light to be able to reach out to?

Do you prefer a floody beam, such as for task lighting, to see more of what's out there at a time...or do you need maximum range, etc?

Yes, the XML D25C slaughters the field on primaries or Li-ions, at least of the lights Selfbuilt has tested.

The application of ANSI as a standard across the industry is a joke and each manufacturer still applies their own level conservatism or exaggeration in their ANSI "interpretation." Unfortunately, the only common ground from which to compare different lights is Selfbuilt (who's numbers are not ANSI either, although are accurate on a relative basis), and of course your own personal testing with a light meter, which I have started doing....And if you have a DSLR, its a piece of cake - It's a real eye-opener.

I would go with that XM-L2 for the added run time. 450-550 lumens is one thing. Having a little more run time for a light that runs off 1 RCR or 123 is nice with that kind of out put.

There is a difference between RCR123 cells.
RCR123 is any kind of rechargeable CR123 cell including 3.0v LiFePo and 4.2v Lithium Ion.
A 16340 specifically refers to a 4.2v Li-Ion.

Selfbuilt estimated the D25C XML U2 at 770 ANSI lumens with an AW IMR 16340 4.2v Lithium Ion cell.

The new Eagletac XM-L2 U2 will be 12% brighter.
You can expect 860 ANSI lumens on Turbo mode.
Turbo mode is Direct Drive, meaning it's not regulated.
If you use a primary CR123 cell, you do not go Direct Drive, it stays regulated.

Eagletac's listed ANSI lumens refer to the light being tested with 3.0v primary CR123 cell,
so no direct drive, meaning no 860 lumens.

Yep, and the SC600 did 760...which the EYE10 beats I can attest. I'd say the EYE10 and the D25C are gonna be really close...now if the EYE10 had the new XM-L2....hmmmm.

I agree with your assessment that the EYE 10 and D25C are extremely close on max with both lights using the XM-L U2....even though reviews give the D25C an approx 100L edge...I have always felt the EYE 10 might even be brighter. And...after using nailbender's XM-L2 5000k T6 drop-in for a few months now, and discovering how much I like this emitter & tint, I would LOVE to see this LED used in a next gen EYE 10! CPF poster, "Fireclaw"(?) modded his EYE 10 with the XM-L2 and stated it was now one of his brightest small EDC lights. For me that would be a near perfect emitter and UI combo...

In My Opinion, the problem with the EYE10 XMLU2 is it has a very green tint.
Eagletac XMLU2 is known to be a premium pure white tint.

Modding the EYE10 with a nicely tinted XML2U2 would make it quite nice then.
I've moved on to 18650 lights for now though.

ROLL TIDE!
Yeah, I'm not crazy about my EYE10s tint. Mine's not green, just too cool for my tastes.

Just thought I'd throw two more out there.

Mac's Tri-EDC at 837 OTF
Any Moddoolar light with cool XP-G2s 1200L (bulb lumens) on 1 x IMR This should be about 950 OTF perhaps?

I've heard a few others complain about the EYE10's green tint as well, although I was lucky I guess in that mine only exhibits a slight greenish tint (output shifting) that so many XM-L's seem to have. Even my new nailbender P60 XM-L2 5000k neutral drop-in has a very slight green tint, and in both cases the undesirable tint is so slight, it just doesn't bother me.

And yes, out of the 3 D-series XM-L U2 based EagleTac lights I have, they are all the same consistant premium white (probably 5800/6000K range). IMO, ET has some of the most consistant tints in a given bin of any production manufacturer that I have personally tried!

On the other hand, every Foursevens and Olight I have owned have had tints so blatantly green I sold most of them at a loss (and I really like Foursevens UI's, sizes, and outputs). I've had 5 Foursevens lights and all were so green it almost seemed intentional?!

*Apologies for straying so far from the OPs thread topic
