Hi, im looking for a basic slim compact longruntime bomb(ish) proof light. i think i will get a inova x5 but which one ?

it is my understanding that the 56 lumen upgrades are not that reliable from what i have read, and then i am wondering where the dual mode versions are made now ( china ?) so would i be right in saying the earlier 35 lumen models are best if i can find one ?
also the newer versions seem to have poor waterproof/dropproof ratings under the nite ize banner.
with regards to the 56 lumen model if run on 17670 would this help protect the leds from being over driven ?
