I just finished a couple triple's. One XPG and one 219.

The XPG shows about 2.5a at the tail, but the 219 is only showing about 2a and isn't all that bright in comparison. I am running them off of 1x AW 2600mah 18650's.

What could my problem be?

Also, what is the hardest i could push the 219? I have extra 8x and 4x7135's that i could add on.

Nichia 219's have a higher Vf compared to a XP-G. Combined with the use of AMC7135 linear regulators and the associated overhead I'm not suprised at all its not running at full drive current of the driver. AMC7135 needs at least 0.12v (more like 0.15-0.2v) Vin above Vf of LED to be in regulation.

Well dang,

What would be the best driver to get full potential from the 219's?

Boost for single cell, buck for multi-cell. Do your research before you buy to avoid problems later on:poke:;). The search feature here on CPF is a wonder resource.

Using 2x123 primaries I get 3A and it is noticeably brighter, It is just when using 1x18650 that I only get 2A. It's kinda weird, using the same driver with a XML U2 with 1x18650 I am only getting around 2A. I thought these drivers were designed to work best off of 1 Li-ion cell

i had same problem many times, 1 li ion almost never in my case, put out 2,8A. imr26650 had the highest current, of 2,2A. situation was a little better with a 8x7135 driver with no modes, no ic chip. but even than, only as long as the cell was fresh off charger. using 4 nimh cells i got 2,8A but chips got very hot,

Note that by measuring the current using your multimeter you're adding a fair amount more resistance; the contact resistance between the multimeter leads/flashlight and the multimeter+wires itself. It generally has a fairly significant amount of resistance.
