Is it just my poor Google-foo, or is it difficult to find "XM-L2" U2 in neutral white (5000K) already mounted (16mm)? Anybody know of a source?

I've found T6s, but I'm interested in the U2.

Not that they're not out there, but I've only seen XM-L2 T6 3C in 5000k range so far as well? Happens to be my fav neutral emitter though.

I'm relatively new to LEDs, but I'm also looking for the XM-L2 in a neutral white spectrum, to replace a setup I have running XM-Ls that are also neutral white. If anyone has a potential source for these, I'd appreciate hearing about it. Can you also explain what the U2 and T6 specifications are referring to?

Hi!

I am planning to do exactly the same thing, and I chose these LEDs:

At first I thought that maybe 4000k might be a little too warm. But I just tested one bare emitter briefly with alligator clips at the contacts, and the color is very pleasing.

The specifications refer to the output, it is explained in the manufacturers datasheet.

I just made a little video how I reflow soldered the new LEDs:
