OK, I'm goofin' around with the stuff I have waiting on more parts to arrive (seemingly a dangerous time) when I get this crazy idea. I rip the lamp and holder out of a Drocy Spyder and, lo and behold, 3 CR2's fit right in. So I direct drive a 5W UW0VW star (measure about 1A) where it's sandwiched between the reflector and body. Of course I had to drill and grind the reflector for the LS. No real hotspot but alot of flood with this reflector, a veritable "wall of light." I think the big aluminum reflctor helped with the heat as well as the heat sink of the star resting on the body...I left if on for about 15 minutes and it didn't feel that hot. Sorry, no dig cam, no pics. But an easy rig if you want to try. Might try some optics, if they ever get here.
