Going through my lights, I came across a couple of the old 7 watt cr123 lights from the late 2007 I think. I know one of them will kill a pair of 123s in less than 25 minutes, so I don''t use them anymore.
These are not drop-ins, so can anything be done as far as changing them to a drop-in type led? Or at least changing them to run longer?
One is like this one (surprised they are still sold) http://www.ebay.com/itm/7-Watt-Luxe...1827302?pt=US_Flashlights&hash=item2a0d4dc666 I can't find a pic of the other one, but it has a larger reflector and lens.
If nothing can be done for them I'm going to consign them to the parts box in case I find something the tail caps and other parts will fit.

Sorry to be that guy who just posts links. They're old links too, so the pictures are all broken. A lot of help I am!

Basic idea is, remove the star board and LED, replace with newer, more efficient one with same output pattern.

LEDs in that package style of the old Luxeons is hard to find, though. Closest you may get these days, besides China brands, are the SMD style LEDs with domes, like XP-E, XP-G, XM-L, etc. These will have the right light pattern, but the reflector of the RL-B7 might not focus the LED optimally.

You might ask old4570 if he could dig up some of those pics for you. He mentioned something about maybe being able to use a P60 drop-in, that would be the easiest way if that is possible (http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb...-Mod-Crazy-!&p=2881459&viewfull=1#post2881459)

Search DX for SSC P4. It won't help on runtime but it will be twice as bright. The case is almost the same as the Luxeon so its a direct replacement.

Think about getting some RCR123A (16349) rechargeables and charger.
