So my daughter left her little Inova AA light on with an alkaline in it that leaked and ruined the light. So I thought this was a good chance to try out the new fenix e12. She wanted a small AA with a clicky and simple to use with no head twisting. The E12 came out at the perfect time cause it fit the bill perfectly. I wanted to get her an eagletac d25a but she would probably lose it so I decided the fenix at half the price was what she is getting. Also gave me a chance to give you guys a side by side shots with the D25a. Not going to talk about the lights, pics will do that for me. I will say the E12 has almost no spill and not a very smooth beam. The beam shots are both lights with a fresh charged eneloop.

Thanks for posting... is your D25A low/medium set on "moonlight on"or "moonlight off?" Also, is the D25 on loose bezel high or tight bezel max? I'm trying to gauge the relative brightness.

Woah it's a blue laser pointer! Too bad, I really like the E11 beam even though I sold mine.

You should label your beamshots, which beam is from which light.

^I assumed the et was on the right Mr. Tone, since the light itself was on the right in all the preceding pics.

I just noticed, it's weird how fenix managed to center the logo in the flat on at least some other e series lights. Not just O.W.'s, but even fenix site is like that. No big deal, just a style choice i guess.

I thought it was on the left since it's the NW version and the E12 is CW, and the fact that he said the E12 had no spill and the left beam looks like it has more spill. This is why he should have labelled them :p

Yeah either label or not switch them from the preceding pics. I know he said he doesnt even want to talk about the lghts, but surely he'll confirm it's on the left. Makes sense what you guys say.

And of course, the D25A has a true low mode :).... And even moonlight, although not shown.

(Sadly, I think the E12 low will be too bright for my purposes)

Any more beamshots possible? Outdoor? I am concerned about the lack of spill after seeing these shots.

Beamshots are the eagletac on left and fenix on the right.

That would be very helpful Omenwolf. What are your impressions now after using it for a while?

quality of the build is good, beam pattern is ok but not very smooth, hardly any spill, low is too bright for my taste. All in all for a $25 light its not bad. I will take ET D25a any day of the week over the E12.

Thank you Omenwolf, the E12 actually does not look too bad in your outdoor shots. What is the tint comparable to?
Thanks for your efforts and photos.

markr6 had spot on when he called it a blue laser pointer.
it gets worse the closer the beam is to you.
