I recently purchased a Nitecore HC50 on ebay and noticed that there are some differences from the one I acquired on amazon.com earlier this year. Probably just a change in manufacturing of the lamps. The serial number on the light from ebay is much higher and presumably all the new hc50s will be the same as this one.

The top hc50 is from an ebay china seller and has 3 notches on the bezel to screw it into place. I have a picture of it disassembled and will post it later.

Also to be noted the light on the right (ebay) has a teal tint to the led, and the older model off amazon.com has pink hue to the light. I tried to capture it on camera to no avail although it is very noticeable in person. In fact my wife who is very unperceptive of such things noticed this right away. Possibly a different color bin on the LEDs.

And the headbands have been updated as well. It is not an improvement to the old yellow one, which is softer and marginally more elastic.

Is the battery tube a little less tight? I found on the sample I reviewed, that the battery fit was very tight for 18650s to the point it scratched cell's plastic wrap over the protection circuit strip when inserting it into the HC50.

Is there any difference in the mode change? Mine changes on the half press, and it would be much better if it changed on releasing the half press.

A change already? I wonder if the notched bezel model has anything to do with led .00001 of a lumen constant on issue. In real terms its only a very small current draw and is not a issue for me[ and not always repeatable] as i really like this light. Although it has easy access to the led/driver is it just me, or does the big brother hc 90 look like it copped a beating from the ugly stick.

Are you sure it's a genuine Nitecore?

Yeah, it has all the same features just the headband and the bezel and led color bin are different. The chip inside says sysmax just like the other. BTW the older one from amazon.com doesn't have the constant barely on led. I checked that first thing when I got it. I seem to have lost the picture of the new one disassembled but the bezel is threaded so it just unscrews.

I just recieved mine today (amazon) and it has the black band. Don't really notice a pink hue to the light. I unsure about the bezel description.
