Due to the die size and dome profile I have found this to be an issue. I tried an XPL in a TIR optics Surefire head and must say it was disappointing. An XML sized die proved to be far superior than either a XPG or the XPL. XPG/XPE sized reflectors (P60 SMO) with an XPL have also been less impressive. The evidence seems to suggest the XPL is more for floody applications where a tight hot spot is not desired and a textured reflector offers better beam profile. While the XPL is still being adapted to various upgrades it is not a thrower like the XPG/XPE. And the various BIN's I have tried suggest a different color rendition from my limited past buying habits. I.E. if you like a 4500k XML, an XPL in the same temp range could possibly disappoint.
