Maglite 3d Cree XP-E and XP-E2 comparison.

Greetings Candle Power Enthusiasts. Just picked up two Maglite 3D Camo with Cree XP-E and 2D Blue Cree XP-E2. The later one has a slightly hotter spot and longer throw, even though the packaging states a 412 meter throw vs XP-E's 364.

79 hours (on high i suppose, because only one mode)
I was wondering what are advantages of the newer generation LED other than longer throw? The stated run time is 79 hours old, 7 hours new, why such difference i dont know, because both are single mode as far as i know and i doubt one extra D battery will undecuple the lifespan. Or is the new LED so much less efficient than old one? :shrug::shrug:

The new 3rd Gen XM-L2's are 524 lumens for the 2D and 625 lumens for the 3D. Throw is about the same and the head only rotates a quarter turn now. Also the new switch is much better. Also multi mode...
