Just an idea.
Is it possible to mix different colors of Luxeons in a tristar configuration resulting in a brighter white spot than with 3 white leds?

don't know about brigher, but you will need different voltages for the diff colors, and some way of controling current to each one. You will need adjustable current to get the right color of white, and it will also have to be constant current so as not to change a shift in color as the power goes lower on one luxeon due to different voltage forward requrements... it's possible, but no one has attempted it...

Isaac is right. It is possible, but you might not really like the results. The Sauce lightwand has three LEDs (admittedly 5mm) in RGB and can mix them to sort of make white. The problem will be that the "beams" from the individual LEDs will have to exactly overlap. Also, some tuning will be necessary to get the right intensity from each of the LEDs.

I've played with the RGB 5mm LEDs (which are really 3 LEDs integrated into a single package). The result was cool, but not particularly bright or focused.

Good luck!
