Hi,

after a long time of absence i started a little project. I got a used Sunwayman V10R and modified it to a tripple high cri:

- Driver modified to 2 ampere current (other current shunt, coil & ceramic condensator)
- Tripple Osram Square high Cri 4000°k - the best high cri light i ever seen
- small alu heatsink so all sit in top of the light
- high transmission coated front lens
- bored out for 18350er cells
- drill some holes into the cooling fins
- add some tritium

Very nice. I'm also a fan of the Osram Hi CRI 4000 emitters.

Yes, very cool. If you ever consider making and selling a few I'd be interested in buying one. I already have a couple of V10R's and V10M's and I'd love to get a mod like this.

The Osrams have been around for a while. Are they still in production?

I wish manufacturers would build lights like that. I could do without the tritium which no manufacturer will mess with.

Hi,

thanks for all the kind words. Now the story goes on...

i modified the cailcap switch a little bit and implement a battery monitor so i can always see the charge status of the 18350er cell. but not some battery monitor, this is a µc controlled battery monitor that need ultra less current so it can run for years without reoplacing/recharging the cell.

how i did this:

- ordered some attiny13 in mlf 10 package (only 3mm edge lenght)
- modified the arduino ide for programming the tinny´s
- write some code with the attention to save as much current as possible
- wire the tinny with some resistors and a led
- put all insight the tailcap switch
- made a transparant tailcap boot (my first one, not perfect as it can be)

some pictures during the work:

Now you maybe ask what is this doing? ok, heres the explanation:

- the tiny is always on when the light is off
- it activates the output pin with the voltage devider (it is most of times off to save current)
- it messures the voltage during the devider and compares it with the internal reference voltage of 1,1 volts
- if the battery is full the led blinks 4 time (3/4 full - 3 times; 1/2 full - 2 times, 1/4 - 1 blink)
- then the tiny sleeps for 4 seconds to save current and the game begins again

Here you can see it:

That is so friggin cool! You need to go into the custom flashlight business man. That is amazing. What is discharge rate of tiny led flashing?

All I can think of is on my bedstand I could quickly find flashlight and will notice when it needs to be charged.

The tiny draws 4micro Ampere when it sleeps and 3mA when it blinks. The blink period is 30ms on. All is optimized for ultra low current draw.

Why isn't Osram more popular? Seems like Nichia has the market cornered in Hi CRI flashlights.

4 second interval is perfect. If too dark to see flashlight you can still find it.

Make a special edition golden Ti of this withe the charge LED's in a titanium switch and I'll find the 500$. My GF might kill me, but it would be worth getting on my knees for a month.

Hi,

i also build some lights with the popular nichia, but believe me the osrams makes the more natural light. i still like the nichias, but the 4500°k version is to cold for my taste. the 4000°k osrams are perfect. if you take a look at the chart on blf:
http://budgetlightforum.com/node/38343
you can clearly see that the osrams have a much lower vf with is perfect for single cell lights. i think nichia was the first with high cri led´s that are in the neutral range, maybe this is the reason why they are so popular.

@Cartaract
i also anodize titanium ;)
