Eagerly awaiting the results! Especially since I am about to pull the trigger on a pocket thrower and this will help me decide which one to get.

Re: Throwers Kombat ;-)

Hey Vinh, add the TX25Cvn. Result will be close to TX25C2vn.
That little thing's throw blows my mind. I think mine does 55-60K lux.

And while we are wishing....
How about give us the diameter of the hot spot at, say 5 meters, or some consistent distance. Too much work.. LOL
This would give us an idea of the relative size of the hot spot among the lights.

Vinh tested mine[TX25C2vn V3 DD/SINGLE MODE XPG2] @:

TURN ON: 880L/68Kcd
30 seconds: 790L/63Kcd

I field tested it @ 617yards/80Kcd and it shed enough light[in my book!] on the cell tower to read a book!

oops,,,,,NOTICED YOURS DID NOT HAVE THE "2" in the description! You have the mini power booster version[TX25Cvn]!

Vinh, just a thought re the hot spot size, which is a great idea but too much work to measure; how about a category of large, medium or normal, and pencil beam? Just a general note would be fine and not much work. Your call of course.

I love my SDminiVN for example because it is a large hot spot and still throws a long way.

Can't wait for the results, this will be fun! :D

Very interested in the results. I have a t6vn ordered, while I bought it for more of a do all combo light I can see a dedicated thrower in my near future.

Over the tm36vn? 800k lux is going to be hard to beat...but never say never.

I have lurked on these forums anytime a light question has come up over the years. It is truly incredible what has been achieved in such little time.

I don't know from Shinola, but wouldn't the 6000 lumen with (approx.) 400K Lux of the T6vn, or even the (approx.) 2400 lumen with 550K Lux that the K70vn produces play a factor in determining the best overall thrower? Or do you believe that the massive Lux numbers of the TM36vn completely out weigh the others despite it's mere 900 max lumen output?

Re: Throwers Kombat ;-)

Maybe it is just me but when I think of a "thrower" I think of pure distance. Is that correct....I don't know. I am sure opinions differ. You could throw in hotspot diameter and that would drastically change the results for a best overall thrower.

I look at it this way. For bragging rights, distance and only distance, wins. But for utility use, the hot spot size is important too.

Top fuel dragsters are sexy, but minivans get the kids to soccer.

I don't have a thrower yet (one on the way though) but I thought which ever light actually threw the furthest, regardless of lumen level, would be the best "thrower"? Spill and brightness are useful of course, but if the brightest light doesn't throw as far as the dimmer light, which light is the best thrower? I would think the dimmer one because it's the length of throw that's being measured? I could be wrong because I'm new to throwers but that's what seems logical to me. No?

I don't disagree necessarily, but to me the brightness level, and even the diameter of the hot spot have to be factored in when determining the "best thrower".

If a light's hot spot is extremely small due to the vast majority of its lumen being focused for throw then it seems to me that the beem would be pretty difficult to see at maximum distance, therefore rendering it less effective than say the T6vn.

But I'm still learning so take anything I write with a grain of salt.

Re: Throwers Kombat ;-)

I am new and learning as well but I can tell you the max distance ratings use a formula that tells you the max distance in which .25 lux is achieved from the device....so there is a standard. Do a google search on ANSI FL-1 standard. Bust out the reading glasses and be ready to read it over a few times...at least I had to in order to make sense of everything and I am still not 100%, but the bottom line is the peak intensity is .25 lux at the given distance across the board reguardless of spill or lumens at the rated distance when ansi fl-1 is used. Somebody correct me if I am wrong or incorrect wording.
