so at a current of 1.2-1.4 amps with 9V forward V.

I should be over the 147 mark correct?

at what current does the BIN get determined at?

OR:

is the BIN process more like" OK it gets 114 lumens at 7.35V and max current (whats that current ) then it's a V BIN

and the next LS will hit 147 but at only 6.9V so it a V aswell but it is effectivly substantially brighter. Is that how it works?

A given V3U binned LV outputs between ~114 and ~148 lumens when driven at 700mA when the temperature at the join between the emitter slug and the heatsink is 25C

so at 1.2-1.4 it should be well over 150 till it heats up. correct?

some will hit the 147 and some will hit the 114 but both are V's hmmmm...., I guess this is what the luxeon lottery is all about.

Actually the test condition is at 25C at the die itself. This will be is 8 C/W higher than at the slug/heatsink junction for steady state operation. It is true that if the test is done with very low duty cycle pulses the die and slug/heatsink junction will be about the same temp. As tested at the factory, there is no heatsink. Low duty cycle pulses are used so there is negligible heating.

What would the output of a X3T at 750 milliamps? Assuming 25C temp is maintained.

Thanks,
CY

Go see the "Realistic luxeon simulation" thread in the LED forum /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

As I understand it, each Luxeon bin is 30 percent brighter than the one beneath it. So W would be 30% brighter than V, and X would be 30% brighter than W. Since 1.30 * 1.30 = 1.69, X would, on the average, be 69% brighter than V at 700 mA.

You mean X would be 69% brighter?

Thanks Evan. You're right.

My mistake. I've corrected it.
