Does somebody know how small can a NX05 optic can be cutted without losing the beam shape?

I have turned some down to fit in a dorcy AAA head, and it seems to work really well. I have heard that farens turn down better. And I seem to recall someone here made some really small ones (TonyB sounds familiar).

When you cut it, are you shortening it, or are you simply making it thinner?

I turned a bunch to ~7/16" dia and shortened them to ~1/4" for the NLS project. They fit into a pocket created with a 7/16" center drill.

I'll shorten it, 7/16 hole, thats 11.1 mm, and good news... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If you shorten them to less than 6.35mm, the ball lens falls out! (I know. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif )
