That is taken from the USMC.mil website, from a story talking about the M4 carbine rifles. It does not say which light it is in the article.

Anyone have any ideas?

It's a streamlight V.L.I. tactical illuminator. There are a few more pictures HERE

HHmmm. That is interesting. I have never seen that product offering by streamlight. Is it available for civilian purchase or is it military contract only?

It's not listed on Streamlights web site, so it must be military only. There's not a lot of info on it anywhere I can find.

1. Please edit the picture size, it's too big.

2. That's made by Insight Technology, sold through Streamlight.

Is insight still making them? It's not listed on their site either.

They are not allowed to retail them.
Due to various rather serious faults found with the VLI it was not adopted by many (most?) Operators some of whom bought SureFires out of their own pocket. A while back the VBL (Visible Bright Light or Very Bright Light) was introduced to replace the Insight VLI as part of the SOPMOD Kit. The VBL was significantly more modular and has a proven performance and reliability.
