1C is about 7" long, 2C is 9" long.

18500 will fit. It is 2" (50mm) shorter than 2C M*glite.
18650 can be used with this one:

I've found the 2c to fit 2x18650 if you take out the spring and
last battery extends into the tailcap.... I just haven't found a
bulb that takes 7.4v to 8.4v

If 18650 fits then 2x123 should also fit. Use a DB1000 and Lux3 and you'll have a real throw monster.

Got the 1C Mag today. I love it - it is a perfect addition to my Mag collection. I've already got a UCL, Pila 168A, 3v halogen bulb in it. I have a MOP PMR and GH24 on order.

I'm beginning to really like these Mag flashlights.
