I just finished modding a disney flashlight, it was a cheap find at BigLots for $1.99. I took off the cartoon sticker and had a purple clickie light with a pathetic micro dot throw to it. I took a circuit I have been playing with out of a cell phone charger and modified it to boost the 2AA to drive 3LEDs at about 110ma on new batteries.

I used a plastic cap from a chapstick as the cap over the AA cell... it routes power to the boost circuit then returns it to the top connection to drive the bulb. The bulb is a modified PR base lamp with 3 5mm LEDs in it, not resistored.
The mod is reversable and could even be switched off for use with a lousy incan bulb. Light output is not too bad but nothing to brag about. The whole mod cost me under $5 for everything and came with 2 free alkalines.
