Something wrong with keyboard?

At first I thought the mouse was faulty, but I have determined it is the keyboard.
The space character ($020, ASCII 32) starts printing over and over, and there's no apparent way to stop it. Even after rebooting the computer, the problem persists.

I'm posting this hoping the problem doesn't crop up mid-post and ruin everything.

Any ideas as to what may be wrong here?

it sounds like it could be a stuck key so to speak, if you are up to it turn the computer off.... and take the keyboard apart and clean it.

Youdon'tneedthespacebaranyway. Justrunallthewordstogether.

newegg.com sells a bunch of them for less than $10.

The only keyboard I use is one that came with an HP machine I bought 7 years ago. It has a real genuine rotary volume control knob. If this thing goes belly up, I'll need some kind of counseling.

if you can boot up to dos before windoze loads and the keyboard does the same that will discount an operating system or possible trojan problem... IE keylogger perhaps?
Another thing is to get another keyboard and see what happens.
I believe there is a software buffer for the keyboard that has to empty even when you unplug the keyboard it may go on for a little while.... perhaps a few seconds or so.
