I'm looking for a 2 or 3 C cell LED flashlight. I couldn't find anything to please me so far (just by studying reviews), so I thought of getting some input from you.
First of all, I'm looking for long runtime, above 8 hours. Next, reffering to the beam I'm in for a big hotspot with wide spill. And I'd like an aluminium body.
D cells might also be good, as long as the light doesn't get too bulky that way.
Oh, and I'm in for something under 80$. Does anyone have suggestions?

Thanks

Among 2C metal LED flashlights, check out the all-metal, 1-watt Nuwai ALX-1812C:
http://www.nuwai.com.tw/1_watt_led/alx-1812c.htm

For a favorable minireview with photos, search on these forums for
"Nuwai 1812C mini-review + photos"

For a 3C metal LED light, Advancemart sells the 10-LED LD-100 for $35:
http://store.advancedmart.com/10whledwared.html

Aitec makes several 3C Collimator models, most or all in metal:

AT2000L (1 watt; rated 312,000 mcd in LED Museum; succeeded by AT2001L)
AT2001L:
http://flashlightreviews.com/reviews/aitec_collimators.htm
AT3000L, a 3 watt model:

AT3003L Tactical, a baton shape (unflared head):
http://www.aitec-usa.com/product_info.php/products_id/187

I have a 3C Streamlight Propolymer, whose 10 LEDs throw a beam that is the anthithesis of a spot. Streamlight also makes a 3C aluminum Task Light and a 3C XP light, each of which has a xenon bulb, as well.

For under $80, you should also consider a Mag 3C with a bright drop-in module.

I forgot to mention two other fine metal 3C LED lights:

1. Nuwai ALX-1913C:
http://www.nuwai.com.tw/1_watt_led/alx-1812c.htm (same link as the Nuwai 2C)

In one line, it is said to take 2 C cells; in another place, 3. The length suggests it's three.

2. The Gentos Super Fire SF307 (Superfire SF307, SF-307, take your pick):

and

sold here:

If Wayne was still selling his FT-3C, you could get one of those. It's a nice light. Makes a lot of light for its size and has a long runtime.
Maybe you could post a WTB in BST/Lights and somebody might sell his. (No, not me)

If you are looking for a looooooooooooooooooonnnnng runtime (listed as up to 25 days!) torch, with a nice flood - you may want to consider a "Lightwave 3000". It won't break the bank and is a nice torch to have on hand for emergencies.

I'd go for a Maglite 3C with an Everled. I have one, and like it a lot.

This would be my recommendation too.

Another vote for the Streamlight TwinTask 3C.

2 levels of LED for flood (160/100 hour runtime) and Xenon (5 hour runtime) for throw when you need it. Check out Flashlightreview's writeup

Thanks guys, for all the feedback. I'm now considering either a modded mag (by 3rd Shift or an Everled), or one of Wayne's Blasters. And considering his pre-sale prices I'd go for a blaster (at 30-40$ for a Blaster I don't think I can go wrong) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
By the way, does anyone know how a Blaster compares to a modded mag regarding spillbeam?

no spill-beam on the blasters, well there is but you can only see it when you shine one at the wall from a about a foot away. but it's not useful in actual use. a mag mod has got plenty of spill.
