i saw on ebay that there was a custom maglite with a purple head and gold body. it got me thinking about painting my light. a friend of mine works in an autoshop and i was thinking of asking him to paint it for me, but do you think it'll be a good idea and ok for the light in terms of scratch resistance, rust resistance, etc... ? maybe not just on a maglite, but any metal body (including HA-HA3) or plastic type flashlights?

Using the right primer and paint it would be ok till you banged it against something and then it would look like car door does on a 10 year old car.

If you could get paint used on those saturn doors that is probably rubberized to work that may be nice.
