Hello,
Lighthound recieved Fenix L1 V2.0 at $29.99.
It it a good bargain or is it preferable to wait and buy a V2.5 ?
Where is the best place today to buy a Fenix (international order) ?

Thanks.

$29.99 is the retail price for the Fenix L1 as listed on the Fenix web site.
But $30 is a good price for a 1 watt Luxeon light using only a single AA battery.

I did not decide to purchase the regular non-premium Fenix L1 until I saw it was upgraded to v2.5.

v2.5 for the Premium version Fenix L1P has an increase in brightness from (an advertized) 40 lumen at v2.0 to 46 lumens - probably barely noticable at 15% - but with an attendent reduction in runtime of about 25%.

However the Non-Premium Fenix L1 gained an increase in brightness from (the advertized) 28 lumens at v2.0, to 38 lumens at v2.5 - this is pretty significant at close to 36% - with the same reduction in runtime.
This puts the v2.5 plain L1 close to the brightness of the original v2.0 L1P premium - but at a significantly lower price......

Link to review with comparison beamshots -

So you say L1 v2.5 is very similar than L1P V2.0, so it is good to buy it?
But what about L1 V2.0 (lighthound) ? is it a bad choice (for $30) ?

Fenix L1 v2.5 is -

95% the brightness of L1P v2.0, but has about 25% less runtime - costs 67% of the L1P @ $45

83% the brightness of the L1P v2.5, same runtime - costs 67% of the L1P

136% brightness of L1 v2.0, but has about 25% less runtime - same price @ $30.

I chose the L1 v2.5....

YOU should decide for yourself....

Is there anyone who sells the version 2.5 (L1)?

When I asked Lighthound, they said all of their Fenix LED's are version 2.0 (even though the stats they have listed show what you posted for version 2.5).

Right now? don't know.

I got mine from 4seven's GROUPB: Fenix L1 and L1P - **CLOSED** (4) (

1 2 3 4 5 ... Last Page )

and he only got 10 or so of the v2.5 plain L1 (non-Premium), and only in black.

However I think any/all new production of the L1 is going to be v2.5....

so it's just a matter of time - waiting for the v2.0 L1 to sell out,
and new productions/supplies then should be v2.5.

By the rate they seem to be selling this may well be pretty soon -
or you can always write directly to Fenix and ask.....

Thank you for the reply. I emailed Fenix but never did receive any reply. I don't see how they expect to become popular if its so hard to purchase. People shouldn't have to go through group buys to get a product. And there isn't one store online even selling the L1P. The ONLY one that had it doesn't have any stock. And searching on google comes up with almost nothing.

They also seem to have made it impossible to tell a L1 version 2.0 from a 2.5. Which makes it easy for someone to get ripped off. They could have put the version number alongside the print on the light.

2 online stores+one here at the forum.

Lighthound: They have the L1 in stock, and will get the L1P soon.
Link:to Lighthound.com
JSBurlys: Have the silver L1 in stock and will also get the L1P soon.
Link:to J.S.Burly`s webshop.
LITEmania: Will get the L1P in stock on the 14th of Oct.
Link:to LITEmania`s thread.

Here are three links to what you want.

I believe you just found the Best place ;)

LightHound has them
LITEmania has them
J.S.Burly`s! has them

I believe Lighthound ships them even cheaper without the Box if you ask for it.

That probably will work if you ask at J.S.Burly`s too.

That is the places that i can think of now.

LITEmania was already shipping the 2.5's, but he ran out of stock, so the next shipment available is October 14th. JSBurly's WAS shipping L1P's, but he's out of stock at the moment... though he should be getting 2.5's shortly. I personally suspect that the group buy may have taken out all of the available inventory Fenix had, and now they're still catching up after doing whatever they did to produce the first batch of 2.5's. Given that it's only 4 days till LITEmania's shipping again, I don't see a problem with waiting a few more days, unless you scoop a deal on the B/S/T Lights forum.

Are these regulated?

Nope. They've got a boost circuit, but don't seem to be regulated - they do have pretty flat discharge curves on NiMH or lithium AA's though.

This discussion is really getting me interested in comparing the Fenix with the Coast 1.25 watt single AA that recently appeared on Sears' web site and I ordered last week... supposed to arrive tomorrow. Once I get it I will wonder how it compares to the Fenix for the same price and battery requirement. I'm gonna have to get a Fenix also and take beamshots side by side, I can just see it... anyone else tell their wives that they should be grateful they don't have a spouse with a lot worse addiction than flashlights??? LOL

Well, they're generally a lot cheaper than guns, knives or watches!

True! Although I must say after owning a Walther PPK/S .380 for 20 years, I was really impressed when I read reviews and then bought a Bersa Thunder .380. Very nice gun for 220 bucks! But then there's ammo and holsters and range fees and.... um yeah, flashlights are cheaper! LOL

In fact I could take it a step further and say that the cost of the flashlights really belongs to the gun collecting... because of guns, I got into finding smaller, brighter flashlights to use with them, then to use by themselves, then another smaller even brighter one... gotta have that... oh and this bigger one for way brighter... and this bigger one for long runtime... oh and now here's a better really small bright sucker.... one to mount on this pistol, one to mount on that pistol... HEY! How the hell did I end up with all these flashlights?

You all know the feeling!!!

sorry to revive an old thread, but i just received my silver L1 v2.0 today, and holy cow, i am impressed. i can't believe that so much light comes out of such a small package! and the beam is just beautiful! much better than my little nuwais...

i thought this would keep me happy until my L1P from litemania arrives, but now i'm counting the days so i can compare and see which one i like better and should keep.

heck, maybe i'll keep both!

and way to go jsburlys for the quick shipping!

The problem is that I am already in to knives.....and my infatuation with guns brought me to flashlights, and well the wife is like "Not this **** again".

Oh well.
