SureFire A2 regulation problems

Hi,

I have a Z3 with new generation KL3 and an A2 rd for LEO use.
The Z3 is for general use and the A2 is my back up.

Now I have a problem with my A2. It seems like the regulation is mad.

I have a clear white beam of light for 8-10 minutes with fresh batteries. Than the regulation drops down hard. The hotspot turns into an ugly yellow and is as bright as the red LEDs.

I use fresh Batterie Station CR123.

Any Ideas? Any experiences like this?

It might not be your light. There have been several reports lately on CPF of problems with Battery Station batteries.

As I recall they all came from the same batch number. The symptom is exactly as you describe. Brand new batteries installed and the light works normally for 10-20 minutes and then suddenly fades out and dies. You can probably find these post in the battery forum.

Suggest you try a fresh set of another brand of 123's. If your A2 behaves normally it will confirm you are having an issue with the Battery Station cells.

It could be that the TailCap is damaged, or the contacts are dirty.
I also suggest that you try a different brand of batteries to help narrow down the cause.
