It seems like certain combinations aren't available; when I try to select rotary w/ black bezel and flush button "Not Available" appears. Also making any changes costs an additional $10, previously there wasn't this fee.

I've found the same thing for the same options. Rotary,Black bezel, Flush button, no clip = not available. Bummer

Very strange, I just tested for my self and no problem for me with this option. I think perhaps you should try another browser so that you are sure the no-clip is updated.

Can you share with us how you arrive to this conclusion?

I tested High CRI with both black Li-Ion and red IMR batteries on Max and about 5 Lumen settings.
Red lasted 5 min. longer on Max and 1 hour longer on 5 Lumens. Both until there was no light any more.
Didn't test it on lower settings. Black gave me 1 hour 15 minutes on Max and 15 hours on 5 Lumens. So things are not that simple.

I am pretty excited to get my HDS EDC rotary 250 today. USPS says "out for delivery" so it should be there when I get home. Can someone tell me what emitter is being used in the 250?

Awesome test! :)

Depending on where you ordered it from, the package may require a signature. The one I ordered from Unique Titanium required one.

Thank you.
I think, extra hour of runtime on 5 lumens is significant, and perhaps extra 5 minutes on max too. I may later test both batteries on the lowest setting to have more complete picture.
Batteries were bought from Lighthound, have 6/7 cycles on them, top condition.
I might also want to compare SureFire and Duracell primaries though the result could depend on particular samples. But if the difference is big enough...
Well, maybe anyone did it before and could report the results? In my experience, SureFire is slightly better than Duracell in SureFire lights.

Can't wait to get my ordered 250lmn LE clicky, both my 200lmn Rotary and coveted Legacy 170T i have sent to Henrique for warranty work. I had to buy another Legacy 170T just to get me through this difficult HDS-less? time.

Looking forward to trying out the 250 but in my opinion the XPG equipped HDS lights still can't match the throw of the GDP series lights.

I am looking forward to compare LE 250 to 140 GDP Tactical too.

If I may ask, what were the issues that required them to go back?

So many questions for something that isn't even available yet. If you want to know how long the additional tubes will be just take the length of a current 123 model and add either 35mm for an 18650 or an additional 65mm for 2AA. That's 1.38 and 2.56 inches respectively.

I will get that 2AA tube when it is available but personally I would prefer 1AA tube with the capacity to use ANY AA size battery. As for !8650 tube, I'll probably get it too. I like this battery but I never EDC a light that takes only a rechargeable battery.

The light would never fire up with a single AA battery... If I remember correctly, it needs at least 2,4v.

I see. Well, you can't have everything.
Here's Henry's quote from another thread:
" There are no plans for a 1xAA battery compartment since the power supply will not work below 1.8V. Further, there is no point is using a 14500 rechargeable li-ion since rechargeable Li-ion CR123 will work just fine in that application. If you need longer runtimes, the R17670 is the next step up and not much physically larger than what a 1xAA would have been. Thus, there is no reason to develop and produce a 1xAA battery compartment.

Zeruel,

We keep thinking about a 1xAA flashlight, designed from the ground up for that purpose. There are a lot of issues - the most significant of which is selling enough to justify the development cost. Since we use American labor, our cost will always be significantly higher than the chinese lights. Without a good return on investment, such a project does not make sense."

Henry.

I wonder why Henry doesn't think he would sell a lot of 1xAA lights? It seems to me that it could be immensely popular.

Yeah, I wonder too. I suspect that many would pay up to $200 for such a light with no problem. Maybe we could try and convince Henry to re-consider. As good as 2AA light could be, SureFire comes to mind, it cannot be true EDC for any occasion. 1AA light is, in my opinion, a great thing. Besides, I always prefer one battery lights. Sometimes you have only one battery not two.

By the way, Henry said that the best throwing clicky is LE 250, current LE 140 still uses GDP, as I understand. Anyway, I ordered LE 250 and have 140 Tactical, so hopefully soon I'll compare them side by side, not just throw. I don't need two, one will be a gift.
