IMRBatteries just announced that they have Sanyo NCR20700A & NCR20700B cells available. Both are priced at $10 each. To me that means that somewhere out there there is at least one device the uses them (besides Tesla). Has anyone seen anything yet?

I have eight of them to build two batterypacks. Not assembled yet.

I wasn't after high discharge currents either. Just a nice way to get more capacity without extra batteries, BMS, charger, leads, connectors.

Not unpacked them yet though. Once finished, the packs should be a nice upgrade compared to the NiMH's they will replace. I guess about 75% of the weight for 240% the capacity.

Though they are not much bigger than 18650, they are quite big compared and won't fit in any 18650 lights. I do have a custom light that takes them and they work well. The only factory light I can think of right now that takes them is the Acebeam L30 - but they are IMO a real leap forward as you are getting 26650 capacity in the smaller form.

I have an Acebeam L30 that uses the 20700 battery. I think it is a protected cell. It came with the light. I see what I think is the thin wire going from positive to negative. I cant find in writing if the cell is protected or not. It's a good thing the 20700 charges inside the L30 because it won't fit in any of my chargers. The cell also wont fit any other light I have.

Interesting, what about the 20700 battery makes it not fit any of your chargers? Most of my chargers can go from 16340's all the way to 26650's without batting an eye. Or are you limited by your chargers themselves?

I have been using 2 of these 20700's for a while(month or so) in an ijoy mod(ecig). Honestly................the 3000mah are more novelty right now, certainly in this mod anyway. Why ? well they are still 4.2v and 3000mah, so if i am using vtc6 which are 3000mah, or 20700 for my uses(under 10a for both cells in series) seems to make no difference in vape time. Nothing noticeable anyway...............

4000mah options would of course give a more worth while benefit(not enough for me personally), if/when we get 5000mah or higher, i could then think about getting a few/flashlights to try out with.

Yes Glenn, your 4250 mah make far more sense:) These i just got with the mod, so a little pointless imo and more a marketing thing. If the mod lasts?!? i may try some higher mah 20700's in the future.

The 20700 is too long for my chargers
