Thank you for creating such a thread. :)

I'm not yet providing an entry, but I am enjoying observing which are drawn to quotes of negativity, and which are drawn to positive quotes.

A friend of mine has this quote as a favorite, and I kinda like it too.

"We sleep safe in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm."
George Orwell

And a quote from my father, when we had the father-to-son-conversation;
"There's a lot idiots in the world, and there's NO WAY you can avoid them"

And of course, the quote in my signature:

"Det skal en kugle til ein Trønder"
Tordenskiold

Trønder= a person from one of two countys called South- and North-Trøndelag
Tordenskiold=Peter Wessel, an Admiral in the Danish fleet, originally from Trøndelag.

IN english, something like "it has to be a bullet for a Trønder"

Sometimes quoted as: "It has to be more than a bullet for a Trønder"

The essense is that Trønder's are really hard to kill...

I'd give each one of 'em a stick and, one for each one of 'em, then I'd say, 'You break that.' Course they could real easy. Then I'd say, 'Tie them sticks in a bundle and try to break that.' Course they couldn't. Then I'd say, "That bundle... that's family."

I'm surprised at the large number of quotes attributed to Einstein.

There may even be a worse case: you may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to parish than to live as slaves." - Winston Churchill
