ive been lurking in this thread for a while now. ive came to the conclusion that HDS just isnt for me.
Sounds so familiar, because that was me just a few years ago. I had multiple reasons for deciding that I'd never ever want one for the same reasons cited, and more. Thing that changed my mind was buying a used one eventually just to see why so many people liked them.

Now I've still got three, with one more on the way and it's my all time go-to light.

You may not even like on if you had one in your hands but just for the fun of it, it's pretty risk free to just surf the used lights here and not get one until a good deal comes up. Play with it for a while and if it still seems like a bad match you can sell it off for what you bought it for. That's 'have your cake and eat it too' CPF style!

There are a lot of lights in my collection that just never seemed to make any sense to me until I got my hands on one. Vice versa too; lights that I really wanted, but once I got one they just seemed like the proverbial good looking woman who gives nothing but regrets once you get her.

Hit that rubber grommet with the grinder on 4 sides. Or 8 if you have a steady hand. ;)

Intersting idea. I wonder if someone could "mill" rubber?...

Maybe freeze the rubber to make it stiffer.

probably using a razor blade would be the easiest though.

I did find a D shaped grommet online last night with a 3/4 diameter here but there were no single grommet sales available...Edit: strike that...I just called and it turns out that is not D shaped.

On another note, I was under the impression (perhaps mistakenly?) that from off, when the button was pushed, the light came on in maximum output until the button was released. When I tried this with the factory settings, my light comes on in the same output as the first setting (ie, less than the maximum). I then tried to reprogram the light (easily done), but nothing changed.

The only setting that I don't know how to reprogram is the maximum from off. Does anybody know how to do it? Once in customization, you just double click and press/hold to customize whatever setting you are in; I can't figure out how to double click and press/hold that setting...

Wacbuz, press and hold FROM OFF will always go to whatever your "Turn On Preset" is set to (B or C from the factory) or your last used brightness if "turn ON preset" is off.
Turn off the "turn ON preset" feature, then go to your max brightness. While the light is on, activate the "turn ON preset" again. The light will always come on in max brightness.

Max from off is accessed with click click+hold. If you have momentary enabled, it light only for as long as you hold the button.

Thanks guys. I read your replies, fiddled around with the customization for a bit and then got it set to how I wanted each level. I have the LE Clicky btw. The way it is set up is that from off, if I press and hold, the light now comes on in max output. It is also the exact same way that my first setting (click on) is programmed. I'm guessing that this means my light is set up to come on from off in whatever way the first setting is programmed.

And if that's not it, I'm sticking with it anyway!

Also, does anybody have any insight into the code shown in the photo? I know the LED is an XP-L...

So I just wanted to give a huge shoutout to AZPops for his (what I consider to be) ingenious idea for the HDS. I totally copied his idea and went to the local hardware store and for less than $2, I now have a great addition to my 325. Not only does it fit on the light unobtrusively, but it makes the light that much easier to use. Winner, winner I say!

What a thread killer post Pops...

Just kidding I saw your post in the other thread. I was just on my way to post here how quite it's been lately.

I'll also abuse this opportunity to mention the fact I am selling my HDS Specialist Blue Forensic light if anyone is interested...:sssh: It's a cool light but as an addict I like to keep changing up lights so funds need to go in and out!

I'll never see myself selling my Tactical 325 though. That light is within meters of me 24/7, love that thing.
I also have a clicky 200 and am wondering if the 250 is noticably brighter. It's been asked and answered many times I believe but can't recall any pictures nor the answer so for the sake of reviving the thread, shoot with any answeres that can help!
Because I might want to add a rotary 250 to the collection but doubting forever it seems. (Someone selling for an attractive price??? )

The rubber grip thingy looks really useful and pretty cool. Gotta go out and buy one myself to see if I like it. Only downside is it might get too thick to be comfortable in normal pockets.

Hey everyone! Figured this is a great time to introduce myself. I currently own about half a dozen lights (surefire, Fenix, olight, maratac) but just placed an order for a Rotary 250. Very excited about it!

Anyways, my question is does anyone know if these are back ordered? I suppose I could email HDS but I figured this would be a good time to introduce myself to the group.

Hey Calypso, welcome to the HDS club! :p Good choice on the Rotary 250! What bezel colour and raised or flush button? Let us know what you think of it when it arrives, although i'm pretty sure you are gonna like it!
I'm not aware of any delays on orders, that said, I wouldn't particulary know if there were any delays if there are anyways :p

Edit: First post after registering 7 years ago? New record maybe? Haha :)

:welcome:

Slight delay on some lights I think as Henry rolls out the tweaked tailcaps. Some members got emails indicating a couple weeks for Rotaries..

 .... Yeah, it was only a wishful thinking, kind of thing. This thread ain't dying, that's fur sure!

One thing nice about an inexpensive accessory like this is, if it don't work for the person. They're only out a couple of bucks, and the trip to the hardware store.

Thanks for the kind wods. Yeah...after 7 years I figured it was time to stop lurking lol. I purchased one of his already built options. It's got a silver bezel and flat tailcap. I like the idea of having a flat tailcap so I can stand it up on its end. Oddly enough about an hour after I posted this I got a confirmation email from Henry but he said that it would be about 3-4 weeks since he was retooling. It's going to be a long wait but I'm glad to be part of the group now!

You waited 7 years for your 1st post, 3-4 weeks wait for your HDS will be nothing.

Welcome to CPF or rather welcome back to CPF :grin2:

Yeah the ability to tailstand is really nice. It's a long wait 3-4 weeks but it's worth it, especially since you'll get the "upgraded" rotary dial.

Since the rotary switch change is more for ease of manufacturing than user improvement it would have been nice if a month's supply of old rotaries were ready during re-machining phase.
