Thank you Mr Bulk
The magnet stays in place thanks to a magnetic Stainless Steel Disc in the rear end of the torch body.
This provides a smooth drag in movement, when you feed the lanyard round.

Just in case you have not seen:
The Orb Ti is made from solid Aviation Grade Titanium, it is not just the colour.
The Aluminium model which is due in a few weeks will retail at about £50 / $95 / 80 euro.
However for CPF members direct from the orb web site.
£40 / $75 / 60 euro.
Members who wish to secure the Alu orb from the first production run may do so via email to [email protected].
Please state which light source.
Many thanks

As much as want a titanium light, my wallet dictates I try the aluminum one for now.

Email sent for one!

Thank you,

Marc

i've got some questions...

could you please post some more pictures/information on the interchangable led system?
i assume you need to build or buy "pills" for it?

also, are you aware of the thermal conductivity of titanium? personally, i wouldn't use a lux3 (or even a 1w!) with titanium...

A very dark world.
Looks interesting. Can you give us any details on the amount of current going to the LED(s) in the various configurations?
Is there a holster available?

What are the relative weights between the Ti and standard versions?

Is Ti used as the actual electrical conductor in the Ti version?

Thanks,

-john

I will submit more photos soon.
The orb comes with which ever light source you prefer, you then have the option of buying other modules online at the orb (coming soon).
The other side to interchangeable light source is the ease for modifications or your own. This is another reason for launching Orb on CPF.
I hope & look forward to seeing Mods on The Orb.
Ti Thermal conductivity.
The Luxeon is mounted on a Good size aluminium heat sink.
The mass of Titanium is pulling enough heat away from the led.
I Like 7 Nichia Rank T Leds in my Ti Orb. (For General day to day use). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Led Current is to manufactures specs (Near as dam it)
7 Nichia 210Ma
1 Watt Luxeon 350Ma
3 Watt Luxeon 650Ma
I Realise we could push the 3W to 1000Ma but prefer to stay around 650Ma, Of course This can be Modified.
Sorry No Holster yet.

Hello, I was thinking electrical conductivity, not thermal.

Does the Ti version weigh less? The same? More?

Thanks,

-john

No problems with electrical conductivity.
Stalling a little on the weight.
Simple answer the Ti Model about is twice the weight of Alu Model. The Ti Orb weighs 190 Grams. (I do not have a Alu Orb to Weigh Today).
Oh & many thanks to Bob The Bald1 for putting up Pics cheers /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
