Re: Sign Up for the \"Gattling\" (Flashlight reinven

Well at this point we try to design the ORing interfaces so that they work with 17mm as well as 19mm PILA batteries (using the same parts except rods). If we succeed, the light would take BOTH 168A's with 2000mA capacity) as well as 168S's with 1400mA capacity. If we don't succeed making both diameters work we go for 17mm (to accomodate the R123's and 123's in which case the Pila will only be the 168S.

However having a 2000mA, 3.6V pila battery would provide an amazing runtime and I hope we can make it work. In comparison the R123's only have 700mA @ 3.6V.

Only if Gatling makes flashlights already branded with that name. Otherwise you're not competing in the gun market. For such a small project, I don't see their lawyers getting wrankled over it. Probably other projects have used the same name.

Question: /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Are three switches really necessary to have multiple brightness levels ?
Can't the levels be built into the software like the Arc4+, HDS, Flex Mag, Mr. Bulks products, etc.....

Re: Sign Up for the \"Gattling\" (Flashlight reinven

i think mobile1 is trying to get away from the tap-dance necessary to operate those lights... and i completely agree... the operation of a light should really be instinctive.. if you lend it to a friend to use the 'indoc' should not take more than 3 seconds...

ON..
OFF

UP
DOWN

BYE.

yes.. it can be done with one button.. and the one-button approach is not 'terrible' once it's learned but a more user friendly interface is almost impossible NOT to achieve.

i.e. the 'head twist' for brightness on my bam module: http://bam.rouse.com or the as yet undisclosed multi-level single control of the Minimighty.

Re: Sign Up for the \"Gattling\" (Flashlight reinven

Yep andrew already answered the question. One function per buttons is what most people are used to. The Arc4, to my opinion was way too complicated./ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif

So a long time ago when the menu/user interface discussions took place here on cpf, this was my only comment regarding the Arc4 user interface with 50 functions on one button. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Are there and CAD mockups of what it would like with the membrane switch? I am having trouble picturing it.

Re: Sign Up for the \"Gattling\" (Flashlight reinven

We are first finishing the Fixed Brightness version CAD with the goal to have them done this week.
Then next will be the changes to a membrane switched version if there is enough interest (so far its about 50%/50% which is good) to do this probably takes another week or two. To production most of the work will be the driver to accomodate a digital pot.

Re: Current Sign Up List

Remove me from the list. auto insurence is going to be $350 this month instead of $250 like i was planning, seems they want to back-charge me a month for coverage on one of my cars. So cant afford this anymnore.
