This is an actual 18650 cell. Certified refurb, guaranteed to be cylindrical! 100% qualities! Here we work very hard to test each individual battery for usability. Is round? Can put sticker?

@Tmack, you are recalling a very small LiPo pouch, like the ones used for RC helicopters, stuffed inside an 18650-sized roll of plastic. Some folks even find e-cig cylindrical pouched cells inside 18650 sized tube. At least pouch cells have better discharge characteristics compared to LiCo of similar size. Although, comparing an ICR18650 with a tiny RC Helicopter LiPo pouch isn't quite a valid comparison. At least they don't have a sealed steel tube to fragment when it blows. You can't say they aren't looking out for our safety ;)

I don't know if any name-brands make 16340 that is available to us as hobbyists, but I've seen sanyo 16650 and 14500 (although folks informed me that a lot of them came from NOS batches, still, better than *fire)

I'm as amused as I am worried. So glad I did a lot of research before getting my first Li-ion flashlight. :)

This is just ridiculous! And it makes me even stronger in my standpoint: the only Fire I will ever have is SUREFIRE!

One clue as to the bogus nature of a cell is the claimed mah, as there are several std mah ratings, so 2400, 2600, 2900, 3100, 3400 and now, some 3600 mah cells.

When you see a mah above or below the standard mah's, it typically means a marketing attempt to appear to be "better" than a standard cell...so if the cell claims 3,000 mah, 2,800 mah, or 4,000 mah, etc, that SHOULD BE a large red flag as to its bogusness.
