I currently own a few lockblade Victornox Swiss Army multi-tools, and some Leathermans--my favorite being the charge.

What other multi-tools are made, and is which are your favorites?

Victorinox SwissTool X (heavy to carry)
Victorinox Spirit (I have been carrying this for the past few months)

Leatherman Micra -- best scissors, carried for several years
Leatherman original PST -- carried for several years
Leatherman original SuperTool -- carried for several years

Leatherman Crunch -- rarely used, but I like it -- clever design

I have had other multitools, but the tools above are my favorites and I still own them.

Although I'm currently testing a large amount of different multi-tools my current favorite is the Leatherman Core. It is the most user-friendly multi-tool I've ever owned.

Other than that I'm still really digging my saved Leatherman PST, Crunch and Buck Model 350 Mini-Tool.

I would have to say that the charge is a great tool, but i lack experience with the rest of the other tools out there to say that they are the best.

- Victorinox Soldier and Alox Pioneer (Farmer's nice too, but the red one I have is "too nice" to carry)
- Victorinox Swisstool Spirit -- IMHO absolutely the best plier-based multitool I have used so far... maybe not as many tools as some but incredibly well designed (I've used Leatherman and Gerber)
- Leatherman Micra -- probably the coolest and best thing multitool to ever grace a keychain

Wenger's smaller lockblade SAKs are pretty nice designs, but I'm not too hot on the blade steel.. at least on the (older) model I have. And the can opener design is weird.

I really like my SAKs a lot. Carrying my Super Tinker today. So on the SAK side of things the Tinker and Soldier are probably my favorite. You can do a lot with them and they aren't bulky.

For pliers multi-tools, I like my Gerbers. Many people don't like Gerbers, but the way the pliers slide out and lock is one of my favorite features.

I'd have to say that the LM Charge Ti and SwissTool Spirit are on the top of my list.

+1

For me, the Tinker is close to perfect as an EDC pocket knife. Small enough to ride comfortably in my pockets, but lots of capability.

I end up using all three of its screwdrivers regularly. Really appreciate that it has a small-size slot-head screwdriver and a usable cross-head screwdriver.

Another thing I really like about the Tinker is its two blades. I can use the big blade for routine cutting, and save the small blade for the occasional task requiring more sharpness and precision.

For pliers multi-tools, I like my Gerbers. Many people don't like Gerbers, but the way the pliers slide out and lock is one of my favorite features.

I have an ancient Leatherman multitool from the 1980s - one of the first or second generation Leatherman tools. It's in fairly decent shape and still works OK, but the ergonomics of using the pliers has always been pretty lame. I was going to get a newer Leatherman, but recently have decided not to give Leatherman any of my business in the future.

So, I've been thinking about getting a Gerber or Swisstool to have better plier capability. I do like the pliers on the bigger Gerbers I've tried out.

My favorite multitool is a Leatherman Pulse. It has a good complement of useful tools (but not too many of them) and they all lock very solidly. It's also reasonably sized and not too heavy. If it had a saw in place of the knife blade, it would pretty much be The Perfect Multitool.

I also have a Vic Spirit, and it's good. I like having all of the tools easily accessible on the outside of the handles, but the tools themselves are a bit strange. Leatherman's tools are easily identifiable with just a glance, but with the Spirit I always have to look and turn it over a couple of times. Some of the Spirit's tools are also kind of stubby, e.g. the small screwdriver of top of the can opener is almost useless. But it is ergonomic and very, very well made. The knife blade is really nice, too.

I had a Leatherman Wave (the new model), but I found it a bit too bulky and heavy to lug around, so I sold it.

I just won a SpydeRench on an internet auction today, but I haven't seen one before, so I can't really say anything about it yet.

I really like a lot of Leatherman's lineup. I just got a squirt p4 to carry at school since I shouldn't bring knives etc. I was really impressed by it's quality build for such a small size. I also like my charge. And my Juice KF4 (now discontinued:mecry:) has been awesome too, its a whole lot of tool in a small size!

I just pre-ordered a Leatherman Skeletool.

This makes a nice addition to my Leatherman mult-tools, Leatherman knives (the leatherman knives are cool in that many have a small assortment of tools with the knife), and Victornox tools.

Has anything else come out (from other makers) that I should look into.

What is considered the highest quality multi-tool these days?

One other question

What is the smallest multi-tool with locking blade(s)?

Would love to see a pocket or keychain M-T with locking blades.
