I just got a new CL1H V3 & DBS V2 both with 3SD Q5 within the
past 1-1/2 weeks.

I am really satisified with both lights but would like to know from
other users how durable they really are.
I have not yet dropped mine onto cement or been rough with them
and I do not want to intentionally do this to find out.

Does anyone have any personal experience (good or bad) with the durability/reliability and/or weakness with either light?
Both of mine came with an extra switch.

Also, I do not notice a PWM issue with either light but it could just
be my eyes.

Thanks for any input.

From what I have seen they are not necessarily thick walled. I would imagine they could take a beating and still function, but they would not look very nice after a couple drops on a hard surface. If you value the appearance of the light, don't carry it around with you. If you value its lighting capabilities, I'm sure it will take on the elements, though it may not be as pretty after doing so.

The CL1H belt clip is strong enough for "normal" use, but i tore the metal (aluminum ring) by hitting something which lifted the light body away from my belt while i was working. Alan from Dereelight was great, sent me a replacement belt clip for free, but now the light gets pocket carried (jacket) most of the time, and only belt carried when it needs to be ready quickly, just to avoid another clumsy mistake.

As a company Dereelight has not been around long enough to have a long-term track record.

I've heard from positive things about the company. Heard some negative things too. Generally more positive than negative. Only time will tell how good the brand is.

I am using a CL1H as my work light and have been for about 2 months with no problems, seems pretty durable to me. Because they are modular if something does not work you can just replace that single part easily and cheaply by contacting Alan.

Where do you even buy one in USA?

I don't know of any US dealer that has the current models in stock. I just order directly from Dereelight, and I haven't had a problem doing business with them direct yet. I've probably received a dozen packages from them so far, at least. :)

As far as durability, time will tell, but I really like my Dereelights so I treat them with care. I don't beat them up, but if I recall, user Fastcar posted that he used his CL1H like a hammer, beating on things with it, with no probelms. He's braver than I am. :)

I think they'd take a beating and only suffer cosmetic issues. Like Monocrom said they are still fairly new and there are only so many out there right now. Time will tell.
