Thank you SO much everyone for your help. I took the plunge just now. Even the note about the "green tint" was helpful. I purchased it from BrightGuy as they have a great satisfaction guaranteed and return policy.

Great! I hope you love it!

On high its not that nice of a light, while the runtime of 1hr 20min is impressive nonetheless there are other lights that can easily match or exceed its output.
Illum, I'm interested to know what other lights can match or exceed the Aeon's high level/runtime?

The reason I ask is because this is the light that made me go cr2.
Nothing before has shown me so much light for such a long runtime but maybe I've missed something? Thanks

Mine is with me every day, riding in my front left pocket. I use it often, and have had no issues whatsoever. The best true EDC light in my opinion.

the ions perfect for closeup use...it has practically no throw
I dunno about the Nautilus though....supposedly its the developing generation of the Aeon
but yeah...the Aeon has its place until Enrique cooks up with something different

I've got one of the original Ions (the 1st 50) and my mine performs perfectly.

I had some issues (IIRC) with flickering or not holding the proper level after a year or two and spoke with Enrique. He instructed me to remove the retaining ring and reseat it. That took care of it. Every year or so when I clean it with Deoxit, I usually remove the ring and clean it and the area that it contacts. No problems - it works perfectly.

I'm looking for an Aeon myself. It is supposed to be an 'improved' Ion in output and runtime. The beam has throw, unlike the Ion, but is supposed to still be good for close up.

I think they have earned their reputation as solid, high quality lights.

I purchased an Aeon a while back and it came with a defective switch. It was replaced right away as an warrantied item. The replacement has worked flawlessly.

My only complaint if you can call it a complaint is the battery lasts so long you can't really predict when it will die on you. When it dies it dies hard. Carry a spare!

I agree with Kelmo. The battery in my EDC Nautilus (cousin of the Aeon) lasts forever. The last time it died I thought it was broken it happens so infrequently. I think I've had mine over a year and can remember replacing the battery twice. Enrique knows regulation.

The only pressing issue with my Aeon so far has been the corroding brass pressed against my chest 24/7 being worn over my neck...which is barely an issue considered to all the other things that can possibly go wrong that requires making a thread about:thinking:

Are you talking about the brass split ring or the brass portion of the head? Is it (or can it become) a functional issue or more one of aesthetics?

My Aeon works flawlessly, and has for many months. My only complaint would be how green the beam is -- it makes my previous greenest seem white by comparison, which is saying something. I notice in comparison type beamshots it's not uncommon for the Aeon's beams to look green, so this might be common. Everything else is perfect.

I concur! An excellent, well-made light that is a bit sea-sick green... I am currently in love with my Drake--smaller and even more power! And of course the venerable LD01 SS, my all-time favorite EDC! Beyond this of course, my TiFli never leaves my neck!

I have changed your thread title, which was misleading in that it implied there were recurrent problems with the Aeon.

The review you mention was unattributable and anonymous on another site, and AFAIK there have been no reports on CPF of any problems at all. The switching on the Aeon's predecessor, the CR2 Ion, did exhibit signs of wear after extended use, but this issue was rectified on the Aeon.

Hi,

I just got my Muyshondt in yesterday evening Fri Feb 26/2010 and I was delighted and concerned at the same time. I went to turn it on and it gave a flick then did not light until I turned a quite a bit more. It came on in low but then high kicked in imediatly. So I tried again real slow and it did the same thing. A flick then I turned a little more but much slower this time and it came in on low. But when I went to high it was right there. What I mean by that is maybe turning it ~ 1/16th of an inch and it went to high. I think somone on this thread here said he had the same problem and so he took some sort of non-conductive material and tightened it down and left it that way for a while to break in the foam pad. Any ideas on this. I do not want to tamper with it in any way as to maybe void the warenty. I am sure that someone that takes the time to design and market a quality product like this would stand behind it 100 percent, so I am not concerned the least but just looking for info here. So it does sound like that person in the Bright Guy review may have been experiencing this but was to impatient to ask for info to rectify this problem. But as I said I am not the least bit concerned because I know that the people that designed then maketed this procuct WILL stand behind it 100 percent.

Thanks in Advance for any light "no pun intended" you can shead on this subject for me.

I have several Aeons, and none of them have such a short travel between low and high. I'd email Enrique or contact the place where you purchased the light.

That said, the Aeon is truly a superb light, IMO.

Well, I suppose it could be some crazy person making up a story, but why would somebody do that? I tend to believe he is being honest. The reason I was concerned is the problem he describes is EXACTLY the problem I had when I bought my CR2 Ion years ago. In fact, it was here on CPF that I found out that many people had the same issue, which was happening with brand new lights, not from wear and tear.

Here is the review from BrightGuy......

"I bought two of these and both have now exhibited the same problem. They just won't settle on the low power setting. I've tried new batteries, I've tried going from off to low, from off to high to low... nothing works. I can get the low setting for about a minute or two and then it turns off as soon as the light is jostled or moved even a bit. Guess I'll contact the mfr. If my lights get fixed, I'll add two stars. To have this occur to TWO models, purchased almost one year apart is not coincidence. (And yes, I paid $195 each)"

I can see you wanting to stick up for Enrique but my Aeon arrived yesterday and it is exibiting exactly what that man on BrightGuy is describing. I have contacted Enrique already. But I have been twisting the head on and off all the way through low and high. I think it is a matter of the foam pad needing a break in peroid but I am not sure. It is working somewhat like some say it should but I am not totally sure. At any case I know I am in good hands and will be handled with respect. Enrique insures me that we can rectify this problem on Monday.

I need to relpace the foam pad on mine. I have had it for quite some time, and have only JUST replaced the battery for the first time. It's a daytime EDC, that gets changed out for bigger lights at night, so it doesn't quite get the usage of the other lights (though I am thinking of making it my nightime carry small light too....I just have too many toys!)

Anyone know where to get that exact foam pad?

Update after haveing the Aeon for a few days now. It comes on in low with no flicker before and high is about three quarters turn or less but way far from the earlier right on top of low. The flicker I think was the battery trying to make contact with out the foam pad broken in then it would go to low after after the flicker. I do not know why the high was so close to low. I do not know the internal workings of the light engine so I cannot presume anything on that. I just sat and kept twisting the light on and of on all the way to high and a little past a few times. The light now works just like I think it should and how others are describing theirs works. Maybe in shipping he should put must have break-in period for foam pad. But it seems not everyone has the problem, OH well. The important thing is that my light works perfectly now and I think it will for years to come unless I trade a few things up some day. But what a perfect little pocket EDC light I absolutly love the little work of art.

Thanks to Enrique,
