Whats out there the fits the three categories below?

1 - Budget HID cheap and bright?

2 - Mid range a really good light for the money?

3 - The best HID at any price?

Thanks

Stanley HID

????

Polarion PH(highest), PH50 is legendary

1)Stanley or Sunforce

2)Any Titanium Brand HIDs or Acro RL-11

3)PH40 & X1. Both are more expensive, smaller, aluminum chassis lights which are fully dust proof as well as submersible. To my way of thinking, these are prerequisite features on an "ultimate" HID light.

Interesting stuff... I've always been interested in HID, maybe I should check out some of these budget lights.

How is it that there is no mention about Surefire Hellfighter? Is this light somewhere in between 2 & 3? Thinking thinking... :candle:

It can cost anywhere between $5-7K new...

When you factor in the cost for a Polarion Night Reaper, the Hellfighter becomes a less attractive option.

That aside it's limited to military applications because of the way it's set up. If you feel comfortable buying and using 5590 batteries, more power to you (pun intended).

It's designed for a crew served weapon and isn't portable or waterproof in its stock configuration. Any portable battery must be hung externally on the light. I didn't include it due to it's narrow role.

Will polarion ever sell new ph50s anymore? If i want to get any polarion that would be it. No second hands for me

Not likely. If you want a 50W model you'll have to get the Night Reaper or purchase a pre-owned. Often second hand Polarions are light new. Many people here, including myself, have purchased used lights at great prices and couldn't be more pleased.

The Maxabeam is sort of in it's own category since it's a short-arc; if you're just looking for fat-laser maximum throw, then it's definitely number one, but "HID" usually implies a standard HID type beam with plenty of spot and at least some spill..

So they still sell night reapers? If so thats is too good!

I took a Sunforce HID from northern tool and a 55 Watt slim moto kit from DDM Tuning, a H7 4300K from my work, and a 4400Mah Lithium-Ion pack.
This spotlight is by far the most impressive thing Ive ever seen and can not explain how happy I am with it. Im installing a fan in the back door soon, after 20 min it was pretty warm and I dont want to try and melt everything without one. Lovely throw though :)
