Hello. I have a 2014 model ea41 flashlight that isn't working. For some reason it now doesn't turn on at all. I've tried several different sets of batteries, cleaned/re-greased the threads and cleaned all the battery contacts. It acts like it is in lock out mode but it is not. When installing the batteries and using the mode switch to check battery voltage, the battery indicator blinks three times like normal but the light will not turn on. I've tried everything but nothing works. I contacted Illumn (where I bought the light) and Craig wondered if it was in lock out mode too, I replied it was not. Any ideas? Thank you for any help.

Thanks, I did read that thread but on mine it won't come on at all other than the battery voltage indicator.

Nitecore warranty don't answer email, I try 4 times.
That link help fix my light, open your light up and see if any wire desoldered because of the heat.

Well its been several days now since I replied to Illumn's email and haven't heard back. Guess I either try to contact Nitecore and hope for the best, try to tear it apart and hope it is an easy fix or just pitch it and buy another one. It was a christmas gift to my mother in law so I really would like to get it fixed. I figure if I have to send it back to Nitecore, it will be next Christmas before I get it back..LOL.

Sorry to hear that. As a newb I can say I am surprised there are so many faults, and a market for some of these chinese light brands. It also seems poor customer service is to be expected and thus you are expected to put on your electronic technician cap to fix it yourself .Not to mention the models cashing in on a search/tactical angle/styling. How would guys go on duty or active service in remote areas or another country if these things failed? Apart from the inconvenicne you might not even have facility to post or ship the item back for warranty. I travel overseas a lot for work, and have been looking at new options since my led lenser failed but I am thinking I am better off with a led lenser again. Malkoff, Elzetta, Surfire all expensive and too specialised to risk losing to theft in a 3rd world country or those occasions you leave gear behind. Chinese lights you leave your life in their hands it looks like...

I recently returned a light to Nitecore. Over Christmas took a shade under 8 weeks to get returned. I suspect that outside of the Christmas post, would probably take 5 to 6 weeks.
Had no problem with them replying to emails though. Sent them about 4 and received replies within a day for all of them.

Thanks for the replies. I have several Nitcore lights, some were top of the line up a year ago and not one problem with them at all. I am surprised this one quit working, I too have an EA41 as well as my step son which are still working like new. I guess there is always one bad one out of the bunch. @ JayR. sounds like it isn't too painful to go through Nitecore for warranty service, not sure how much longer it will take shipping from here in the states but I guess it's better than giving up and buying another one. Thanks again for the info and help!!

I can understand what you are saying but I am confused by your post. You say talk like York life depends on a light yet won't spend the money for an Elzetta, Malkoff, or Surefire? Is your life not worth more to you than the price of led lenser (who is really over priced for what their lights are)? Before you give up on "Chinese lights" take a look at Fenix. They may not be on the cutting edge with the latest greatest emitters and UIs but they make reliable lights at good prices, I would trust my Fenixs with everything I had if I had to.

*Sorry to get off topic, mickb pm if you have any questions instead of cluttering up this thread*

Update: received an email from Illumn this morning. He gave me a RMA number and address to ship it back to, said he will either fix it or replace it. Makes me feel better knowing he is going to take care of it one way or another. I have only read good reports about Illumn and I believe them all.

They are always VERY prompt!,been dealing with them for several years.

THEY were at a trade show, that was why it took them several days to get back to you. They got back to me today[trade show delay!] and are sending me a free replacement and do not want the defective one back!
