Re: Problem with 27LT & R123?!?! Don't Use!

Hi guys,
Well although the incidents of a problem are seemingly isolated, they do appear to be real and for that reason, I can only conclude that the DBx2 driver is not compatible with 2xR123 cells! No idea what the nature of the problem is but I can't support or recommend the use of 2xR123 when it is clear that this can cause death to the converter in some cases. Sorry!
Hi McGizmo,
Where do I return mine for service? I still would like it repaired. I will pay for the repair. If I can buy a new board and replace it myself, that would be fine too.
Also, this link should be updated (IMHO) with the possible now known problems for it states you can use 2 x R123 (or up to 14v input)...

Partial link quote...
"The driver, LED and batteries
The DBx2 (DownBoy) is a current regulated buck driver which means you can use any battery configuration from the Vin of your LED up to 14V input voltage. Considering the physical limitations of the light this leaves the following battery combos as realistic alternatives:
- 2xCR123
- 2xLi-Ion (R123)
- 1xLi-Ion --> only the slim PILA 168S will fit, the 168A is too fat."
Njoy...
