I disagree on that. 5000K may be the cleanest white but I find I prefer 3700-4000K in general. The warmth and comfort is worth it to me.
I've been playing with the 4000K and 5000K between studying the female reproductive system (and I thought I knew all about it before this physiology class)... and what is a vesico-uterine pouch for and what are women keeping it that pouch? Just another mystery I will have to explore.
Anyway, my take is like this: 4000K is like an incandescent light.. or turned low, like candle light. The 5000K is white, but not like the low CRI white we typically see. It shows colors so much more true without washing them out. I don't care for most "cool" lights as there always seems to be some blue or violet in the beam, and it washes color out. The 5000K doesn't do this. It doesn't make the reds and browns deeper, but shows them as they would appear outside.
It really comes down to preference. I'm keeping both. I'm an addict, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Looks like my 4 HDS holster will be back to being used!
