Hi,

I was thinking of attaching one of the smaller LED lights to an air rifle. Will mount it on top of the scope or on the barrel. I have a mount that will go from .75" to 1.25".

Is there a manufacturer who makes a small(er) light like this that will be able to "light up" a rat up to 20-25 yds. away? It doesn't have to be fancy (read expensive).

It doesn't have to be so powerful that i can count whiskers, I just need to make them plainly visilble in very, very low light so I can make quick, one shot kills as opposed to wounding them. I despise rats but needless suffering is needless suffering.

(For you PETA types, please remember rats are disease carrying vermin who once wiped out 1/3 of Europe by spreading the Bubonic plague AKA the "black death).

Thanks,

Mike

Hey Mike, I thought it was the flees that carried the plague and the rats carried the fleas, anyway kill the rats. I just baited a few of them in my roof, certainly a slower death then getting shot!

As for the light I'd just buy a cheap 1aa light from dx like this one. Most people have good things to say about it. Good luck slaughtering the vermin, kill em all!

Jimmy M,

The Ultrafire C2 might be just the thing. I see where it takes different types of batteries. Which battery would result in the best illumination do you think?

Also it says it has an "orange peel" reflector as opposed to the smooth type reflector that you mentioned. But I read some reviews and if compares very favorably to some lights that cost 3-4 time as much and even more. How can that be? I think I will get one and try it out.

How far do you think the beam throw is given my stated use for it?

Thanks a lot,

Mike

I recommend the MTE 1mode 1AA light in post 2 or the Ultrafire C2, and low self discharge rechargeable NiMH cells, like Sanyo Eneloops or Rayovac hybrids. They're much cheaper to operate than alkalines and have superior performance.
