12v battery pack for fluorescent fishing light?

I will be putting together a 24" green fluorescent fishing light and want to make a battery pack for the times I won't be on a boat. I'd like the runtime to be at least 2 hours. Is that realistic?

It's only like 1.7 amps, buddy had something like that and ran it off a car battery and lasted somewhere around ten hours.

You want a battery pack so you don't have to lug the car battery?

Yes. With carrying poles, bucket and minnows, a deep cycle battery may be too heavy. What about 6v lantern batteries?
