18500 in a Surefire 9P?

I would say you would have to bore the flashlight. I have 18650's on hand and they do not fit in my 9P and 17670's are a loose fit in the body on mine.

They didn't in my D3, so i had a reaming party, and made it a mm or so bigger. But!
Made the tunnel just ever so slightly bigger then the 18500's. Put 'em in...
Nothing! So...went down to the hardware store and found me the " box of springs", got one that twists onto the stock spring without removing the old one, and presto! Guilt free lumens! Easy with the boring or you will have daylight coming through where the 0-rings are in no time! Check out the 3 bladed adjustible reamers at Mcmaster and Carr, maybe.

I also bore lights for a modest price. if you search my user name, you will find some comments from CPF'ers.

I'm sorry I can't be of much help, but your question would do better in the incandescent forum, there is quite a few very knowledgeable people there on the 9P.

Use a 2x18500 (3 123) LEEF body. it is essentially a Surfire 9P body made from the ground up to hold the fatter 18mm 18500 batteries. Put on the stock Surefire tailcap and bezel and choose a bulb (P90/P91/LF E-09/Digilight 9v) and you end up with a 9P that holds 18500's. It will also use 3-123's just fine too.

these days, I do think that the LEEF bodies are a better option. besides, there is something to say about leaving hardware in its original configuration.
