I recovered some 18650s from a battery pack that didnt get sold with an old laptop.

The terminals have little shards left over from the solder, what is the best way to remove them to make the terminals smooth?

thanks
Mike

It all depends what tools you have available. In my experience with using harvested cells from cordless powertool packs, the very small solder spots do not pose a problem when using in a 3x or 4x batt holder, provided the heatshrink is intact with no visible tears where conductivity/shorts could be an issue. If you so desire, fine needle nose pliers will remove most of the 'leftover' stuff, and a gentle coaxing with a dremel should do the trick. Just make sure that when using a dremel, do not over do it. Typically on the +ve end, the contact is gerenally thin and it's easy to grind right through.

thanks for the answers. I will use some sand paper. I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't damage the cell.
