congrats on your purchase! i run my akoray k106 on 1 x14500 with the other 14500 spare in my bag or pocket (in a tiny ziploc or wrapped in cling film) and you can always get AAs at any convenience store if you really run out of juice.

Any of the quality name brand 1xAA lights are. Anything from Nitecore, 47's, Fenix, Olight, Eagletac. Even some of the budget 1xAA lights are about twice as bright.

The UF C3 was not known for being bright, it was known for a good general use brightness that still gave you good battery life, and it had unusually good regulation for such a cheap light. It was never a scorcher by any means.

+1 on this, my 1st C3 bought in 2007 is still around, unfortunately the others i have gotten have failed me miserably, guess i had no luck in the quality lottery.
 
you can try ,3W Cree XR-E P4 torch ,2x AA batteries , you can from [reference removed - DM51] get more infromations
