220 vac bulbs?

I have 800w of 220vac in my boat that I wish to utilise in a long-distance spotlight. I want as little sidespill as possible. I need some recommendations for bulb and reflector, or even a cheap complete waterproof unit.

I believe most of the world's houshold power is 220v. Just order something foreign.

The only place in the states I know of where a 220v bulb is used is as a damping componenet in an elevator controller.

Actually most of the world is close to 240V then 220V. The notable exceptions to the 240 are North America,
Japan, much of Korea, and the Eastern Province of Saudia Arabia (Thank you Bechtel). Japan is unique in that depending
upon where you are, power is either 50 or 60hz. Basically areas electrified before WWII that survived are usually 50Hz, and work done
after WWII is 60Hz. Times that use syncrhonous motors in Japan often had markings for both 60 and 50Hz.

For raw power, I'd probably look for customer luminare, and a 175 watt HID light.

Try an English supplier for your bulb. We're on 240V here. It would appear the best option would be one of those "theatrical" spotlamps on a swivel stand. One would presume that you want to be able to move the light around!

Here in Norway the power is supposed to br 220-240 volts, 50HZ.
