Hi guys,

Well you've done well advising me on the best charger ever invented.

Now it's time to show me whats available in way of flashlights.

I've seen something called a Bright Strike Blue-Dot. http://www.brite-strike.com/BlueDot.html I really like the look of this torch.

But here is the spec's of what I'd like. See if there is anything that comes close.

- Must use 2x AA rechargeable batteries.
- 200+ Lumi-doobies.
- Titanium.
- Tail cap switch (Preferably also metal).
- Multiple modes (Normal modes, Bright - Dim5, Beacon, SOS, etc.)
- No twist on twist off head switch. I hate this. :(
- Black finish.
- Look wikid! ;)

Is there a good database of pictures and prices on the site anywhere?

TNX, Look forward to the replies. You guys are a great help!

Hi again Niconical!

Well Titanium is just super tough and neat. But if one doesn't exist to my specs then that's just tough for me then I guess. ;)

Thanks for the links.

I like option 2.
Quark AA2 it would be good as a general one to carry around in the bag.

Option3.
Dereelight Javelin, 3S WG (neutral tint)
. I like also with the bigger head and brighter beam. This one would be good for in the car or at home.
These are out of stock though sadly.

Also does something like this exist with a crazy length barrel? Say 4 or more AA's?

Option 1. I'm not fussed on the rubber grip.

How about options on AAA in the same configurations? But 1x & 2x cell optsions?

I would have expected more options then this?

Also I'm a member of the Pentax camera forums. They have a Lens review register where you can see pictures and reviews of of lens's. It's all done within a forum engine. You guys should consider doing the same here for flashlights.

BTW Ordered a MH-C9000 + xtras.
Thanks again for all your help. Your a Top Mate!

Oh and by the way, I fully understand. Your just Big Boned! ;)

Back to the titanium thing.... why?

I wonder about that too. I have a titanium cased watch, and it has got scratched up as hell. Titanium is incredibly soft, at least as far as scratch resistance goes. I think it has high strength compared to aluminium (does not bend easily) but tests here of torches such as the aluminium Fenix TK40 suggest that they are tough as old boots. So I can't see the point. Just my opinion.

About the titanium, some manufacturers do offer limited runs of some lights in titanium. There's nothing wrong with that of course if that's your thing, I just thought it was a surprising choice for a first step. If you want tough you'll most likely find that a regular al light is great. These are not thin walled cheapies, the ones I mentioned are built to take some abuse, especially the TK20. We have a forum member Marduke, click here for his crush test on the Fenix T1.

As for big boned....., well screw you! Respect mah authoritah and get a TK20! :nana:

OK, Not so worried about Titanium anymore then. :)

Been looking at these two for a smaller AAA Torch.

http://www.light-reviews.com/liteflux_lf2_xt/

I love the clicky programming idea and no twisty crappy head switching.

Style wise I tend to like that more military look.

Note the serrated head and the style of the tale cap on the LF5XT.

But from what I have read so far the LF2XT is the better choice design wise.

Opinions of this torch? Know any others similar?

I recommend the Quark 2AA Turbo.
Titanium is OK for light duty work but if you use them hard you NEED S30V or better.

Very nice lights,

you should know that isn't an LED in the clicky - it's a Tritium marker vial - a small glass vial of radioactive gas which glows in the dark for about ten years. Not as bright as any LED - about the same as a Glow in the dark product about thirty second after charging. Not alot but great in the dark to help find your torch.

$200 though...what's that in bucks? Don't forget import duty too!

Yes I did get curious and Googled the Tritium after my last post here.

Interesting stuff. And supposedly very safe.

Didn't realise it only lasted ten years though. Pity. A purchase like that I would want it to last for life.

The run I really liked he doesn't do any more. So this has started to settle me down as far as an impulse purchase is concerned. :)

This is the one. http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=253696

Very nice!

Definitely a work of art!

Oh, No import duty here in Australia on items under $1000. :)

Well guys, after days and days of searching all my travels always seem to lead here. >>> http://www.expandku.com

I think the LiteFlux LF2XT Cree XP-E Neutral White LED Flashlight will be my first purchase.

I also love the NiteCore D10 in Titanium. But the UI is just too basic. They need to add Strobe, SOS, and so on. It's a shame otherwise they had it close to perfect.

The prototype AA from that site also looks very promising!
I hope they offer it in lesser materials like aluminum for us more budget conscious folk. ;)

You could use the D10 SP which has strobe and SOS

Thanks.

Also

Just revisiting the Nitecore D20 R2 as a possible second purchase.

- Can all the modes be accessed from the button without having to twist the head at all? IE Leave it tight? (Hate hate hate twisty head modes!) :)
- Does it have Strobe and SOS?
- How is the lock out feature accessed?
- Does it have low voltage warning & cut out?
- Voltage display flash mode?
- No Li-Ion cell support?? Why?? :(

I would love to see some really comprehensive demo YouTube video's that go through everything thoroughly.

As specially the LiteFlux LF2XT & Nitecore D10 SP & D20 R2.

I've looked but most video's are very short and don't cover much.

Yes. The head remains tight at all times.

No.
- How is the lock out feature accessed?
By untwisting the head a turn of two.
- Does it have low voltage warning & cut out?
It doesn't have a battery protection mode as it is not required in a non-lithium ion powered light. The low voltage indication is a dimming output.
- Voltage display flash mode?
No.
- No Li-Ion cell support?? Why?? :(
No torch that I'm aware of can accept 2 x NiMH or Alkaline batteries and in turn accept 2 x lithium/lithium ion cells. The resulting voltage difference with a 2 cell light would require a driver with a very high voltage ceiling resulting in poor regulation/efficiency at the NiMH/Alkaline voltage level.

i.e. (2 x 1.5 volts = 3v) compared with a lithium ion configuration: (2 x 3.7 volts = 7.4 volts).

OK. Cool James. Thanks!

I didn't know that about 2x AA and Li-Ion. TNX.

And all modes without twisting and head tight? Does that include turbo? (Max brightness).

OK. Can I ask the same questions then about the D10 SP then now please. :)

The D10 SP R2 has a completely different UI to the older models.

The head remains tight at all times.

1. To turn on/off the light, press & release the button.

2. To activate 'button lock', press & hold the button until you see a brief flash of light then release. The button is locked until you perform a quick 'triple click'. After this triple click sequence, the light will turn on.
Note: A slow 'triple click' will not activate the light.

3. To change output levels (L,M,H): Whilst the light is on, simply press and hold the button. The light will automatically switch from L,M,H in sequence. Simply release the button at the wanted output level. The light will remember this level each time you turn the light on/off.

4. To activate strobe: Whilst the light is on, press the button & release, then press & hold the button. Whilst in strobe mode, if you turn the light off and then on again, the light will revert to the last standard output level selected (non flash output).

5. To activate S.O.S: Whilst the light is on, double click the button. Whilst in S.O.S mode, if you turn the light off and then on again, the light will revert to the last standard output level selected (non flash output).

It is a great UI in my opinion.

The D10 / EX10 lights have always had the ability to accept Lithium Ion cells and produce quite a bit more output with the higher voltage cells. However, you must remember that no 'low voltage output' function is available with the D10/EX10 lights. So you must remember to charge your lithium ion cells before they drop under 2.9v approx. in output. If you stick with protected cells, you will be OK.

I hope that helps.

James....:)
