I have a "lego" 2XAA Garrity light that I put together with a clicky and lock out tailcap. It takes this type of small bulb. It has a brass screw-in bulb holder. It's not worth anything more than trying to upgrade the bulb for more brightness as the stock bulb produces a dim, yellow beam.

Does anyone know of a high power or LED replacement for this bulb? Lighthound sells an 8V version and I could use two of AWs 14500 3.7V cells but I wanted to stick with 3V so I can use alkalines, Ni-MHs or lithium primaries.

I appreciate any help you can give.

Re: 6V Bulb Replacement

That's the standard bulb used in many cheap "Police" and "Cop" branded lights. I don't know of any higher current 6v bulbs, but there is a 1 Amp 7.2v version.

You may have to go boldly where no flashaholic has gone before and try that combo out. I've never seen a bulb like that used before, so I can't comment.

Re: 6V Bulb Replacement

if it's a 2AA light, and you want to be abel to use NIMH/alk/lithium primaries, then why are you after a 6V bulb, shouldn't you be after a 2.0-3.0V bulb.?

Good question mdocod! :) The night I was playing around with this I was also upgrading an old Tekna dive light that was 6V so I guess 6V was burnt into my head. :(

You gents are correct as these bulbs are also used in those cheap China lights. I can see from the choices out there that there aren't many choices out there!

Never seen a 3v except in a 3p from laser products, but that's really rare. Is it somewhat (reasonably) bright, or is it pathetically whimpy (I.E. 2D Cell Maglite)?

No, not really rare. As mentioned, they came in a lot of cheap lights. Just about a worthless beam. Dim as can be and yellow.

I got one of the 8V bulbs from Lighthound and I'm using two 14500 cells to drive it. Big improvement!

Just for clarification, I was talking about the 3P, not the 3v lamp.
