Woot! Woot!

So I managed to drive out into the country and get some decent beamshots. Here's the set-up I used.

DSCF1496-2.jpg

L-R; Fenix L2D Q5, Preon 2 Cool White, Preon 2 Neutral White.

Here are the lumen ratings from the integrating sphere thread, no data is available for the NW Preon 2.

Preon 2 CW:
3 Low
30 Medium
148 High

L2D Q5
8 Low
37 Medium
145 High

After using the NW Preon 2 for the past few days I am sold on it. The Neutral is just some much better at color rendition and isn't as harsh on the eyes. I can't tell if there is any difference in brightness but the Neutral feels more normal and works very well with my eyes. The Cool White Preon 2 I've been EDCing since December looks, by itself, to be a pure white but once compared to the Neutral it appears slightly blue.

Let's start with some shots just to show the tints, all lights are on low. L-R; Fenix L2D Q5, Preon 2 Cool White, Preon 2 Neutral White.

Since the low sort of exaggerates the tint differences here are the lights on high.

Distance shots, lights on high in the same order as above.

All three lights at once, this lit up a huge area. 450 lumens! >:D

BONUS SHOT! Here's the iTP H01 headlamp on high.

All right, I need a ride home. Anyone heading my way?

great pics :twothumbs

i've had one of the neutral preon II's in my shopping cart for a week now. this may have pushed me over the edge.

Thanks for the comparisons, that is truly impressive for 2 AAA's... just bought my Dad one yesterday.

The neutrals are quite nice. I've got two of the new XP-G R4 neutrals: AA2 and Mini AA and both are very good little lights. The neutral emitter is becoming my favorite of the various crees. If only they could do a higher CRI variant!

I recently received my Preon 2 NW and it's great. Love the tint, not too yellow. The form factor is good, love the shape, though I wish it was more grippy. The metal button over the rubber button rattles a bit after the light is clicked on. I applied some grease between the metal and rubber button and that dampened it.

My "warm" Preon2 had that button rattle -- enough I mailed the company worrying about it within the first hour -- but it went away within a day or two just by 'exercising' the button. I emailed'em again to say neverrrmind.

It spent a week in a drawer and I thought it was dead after that -- swapping batteries didn't help -- but after taking the head off and putting it back on it lights up just fine. I cleaned up the threads a bit and added a smidgen of conductive lubricant.

Hope you get a warm one to add to your beamshot collection.

My Preon2 NW just arrived today.

It just became my favourite EDC. Love the form factor. There's no reason for it not to be with you when you need it.
The pocket clip is nice and strong. The body is somewhat slippery but tolerable. The clickie is positive and the UI is very familiar since I have all the Mini Quarks.
The beam is smooth, artifact free, wide and very effective.

I'm very pleased with it and I think I'll get a Preon body in yellow so I can see what a 10440 will look like.

I just got my NW version JUST then! got delivered to my desk, and I must say, beautiful tint. Makes the warm look very peachy by comparison, and the cool looks like ultra white. The NW is almost where I wanted the tint. Slightly warmer would have been spot on... but maybe thats just because I want it to be mid way between the other two...

Can't wait to use it for something now :)

I've just got my Preon 2 NW, and it sure is a beast of a penlight.

But seriously, I can't hold onto this thing its like trying to grip a piece of ice it just slips out of your hands.

How can I fix this? Will 4Sevens be able to exchange the body with that of the standard grippy Preon 2 body? I would really appreciate that. I'll shoot them off an e-mail.

Dead serious. I got some of this stuff and it's AMAZING. Used it on a slippery handgun grip. It's like $10 and has many uses.

I noticed this as well. The NW lights have a much different texture than my kit Red Preons. I haven't seen anything about an anodizing change, anyone have any info?

Maybe I'll pop on over to the 4sevens forum.

Also, the newer switch redesign is rubbish. It's hard to change modes and provides much less tactile feedback. But, I've still got my original switch and with the NW head the light is close to perfect.

Dammit!

This put me over the edge!!!!!!

It's time to call 4 Sevens and place another order. I have tried to "cut back" on the wallet drain. I give up..... I'm ordering TWO of the neutrals.
